Nick continued the theme of multiclass fighter types.
His character, Athron Dolmen, is a half-Shal (or half-elf) born to a Shal from Sa’iph and a human on the borders between Sa’iph and Torei. In Sa’iph, those born from a debt-bonded human inherit the family debt. Rather than having their son swallowed by the indentured servitude, one or both of Athron’s parents left him in a circle of standing stones on the borderlands between the two countries a place where many such children of mixed heritage were left, in the hopes that someone living in Torei would take them in.
Athron was found and raised by a human couple, and grew to join the armies of Arkus in Torei’s unending border skirmishes with the Sajeem’s armies. After a few years of fighting – and the destruction of his home village, and deaths of his adoptive parents in the war – Athron became weary of a fight that seemed unending, and ultimately useless. Athron joined the upstart church the Temple of Hamal and travels west from Torei into Tarrish to spread the faith.
The addition of a cleric of Hamal to the party further affects my plans for the first adventure: I decide that one of the passengers on the missing ship will be a high-level member of the Church. Although Nick promised that Athron would hire on, as a way to generate income to support himself, this gives a stronger motivation for his character to become involved.
Chris decided he wanted to play a straight barbarian, a human from the North Redding peoples who live close to the monstrous Stamm who were driven from the center of the lands long ago. Broc’s motivation for being in the south is simple – he wants to learn more about the ways of the southern lands. Broc has come to Tarrish simply as a wanderer.
Giorgo usually takes the longest of all of us to create his character, and did so again with my campaign. In the end, he decides that Cassick Arnaud – a fighter/rogue – comes from the East Redding, born to a family of merchants who, more often than not, also work as smugglers evading League taxes on goods shipped through the League cities. Cassick works the north/south road connecting the East Redding to Tarrish, and Tarrish serves as one of his bases for tending his family’s business. Giorgo also decides that, to make things easy for me, Cassick is known to hire out on occasion on potentially lucrative jobs through the Vind Hall.
