Sun’sday
Beleen and Fubar awaken early to set out and find sir Arthur Desven. At the north exit of the city, the Falcon Gate, they meet an awkward young man named Parn. The young fellow wishes to travel to Desven’s estate, but he has heard of the dangers posed by the cleftwood few. After some debate in elvish, they agree to allow him to accompany them. As they small group is talking, Vanwafeya gallops past them on the nothern road.
Fubar and Parn talk as they walk while Beleen coos to her Falcon. We discover that Parn is an orphan, his parents lost at sea. He does odd jobs to sustain himself but now he has found his calling. He wishes to be a follower of the wandering God, Farlaghan. To properly do so, he must find father Ander Goodchild. Of course it is hard to find wandering priests but Parn suspects that he is at Desven’s keep of Labast.
Fubar spots a wild boar and fires a crossbow at the beast. The enraged boar charges and gores both Beleen and Fubar before it is felled. Parn’s healing talent restores them and they slice a few peices of meat from the carcass and decide to leave the rest. Beleen spots a pair of archers sneaking through the brush towards them. Fubar summons his horse and gallops ahead and doubles back through the forest. Beleen and Parn walk on as if they knew nothing. The huntsmen go for the boar and we see that they are starved and probably outlaws. The party leaves them to their meat.
Meanwhile, Vanwafeya has reached Labast and met with Desven, he asks her to test the metle of a new recruit. A cocky full-blooded elf by the name of Onuriz bests Vanwafeya in martial combat. Both are tended by Sir Arthur Desven himself, who reveals himself as a paladin, a holy knight, and heals their wounds with his lay-on-hands ability.
The three make it to Labast before evenfall. They are escorted to the main hall where Desven is speaking with Vanwafeya at the evening meal. Desven names Vanwafeya as the leader of his mercenary troop he calls the Blades. Under her will serve Onuriz, Beleen, and Fubar. In the morning the must set out and find what has happened to the halfling caravan under the command of Huris Shameford. They have been trapped in the ruins of “Dry Fort” on lands belonging to Baron Raynard Metla. The cleftwood few are trying to seize the goods of the smallfolk but have so far been unsuccessful.
