Dwarfs of the Vale
Dwarven society has atomized since the arrival of the Claacos. No longer able to link their subterranean mountain communities to form larger, cohesive political units, the dwarfs who used to populate the Old Dwarven Vale in the Tapey Mountain Range now cluster in the vale’s periphery. Each mountain peak houses a small independent community that has burrowed no lower than the treeline. The Claacos are adept at digging and finding entrances to cave systems at lower altitudes. These groups are just as likely to fight each other as trade for the limited resources available. Many dwarfs have left for the Shomaal and made their homes among surface dwellers. The more tolerant northern cities host dwarven expatriate communities. Some say there are dwarfs who have burrowed so deep into the bowls of the earth, they have become transformed and can exist where Claacos cannot.
