Like its sister city Aqda to the west, New Darin was conceived as a southern defense against the Claacos and staging ground for Claacos hunting. It is busy with soldiers, hunters, and merchants. The soldiers conduct training exercises, patrols, and even mount short expeditions against the Claacos simply for the sake of staying sharp. Hunters bring in primarily forager Claacos carcasses which are prepared for export in the city. Merchants trade goods from the rest of the Shomaal for dried meat and chitin.
New Darin is administered by a general known as ‘The Designate of Darin’ who is appointed by the Emperor.
