The party was contacted by Lavinia Vanderboren and invited to a meeting at her family’s manor house. Lavinia’s parents had recently died in a tragic fire that destroyed one of her families trading ships. She became head of the family shipping business.
Lavinia asked the party to help recover her ship The Blue Nixie which was being held by a corrupt harbour master’s agent named Soller Vark. The adventurers sneaked on-board the vessel while it was moored in the Sasserine’s bay. They made short work of the thugs that were attempting to off load an illegal cargo of exotic animals, and managed to capture Soller Vark and turn him over to the port authorities.
More of a challenge was a strange spider-like creature that escaped the hold during the conflict. Luckily the creature was killed when a fire broke out below decks, even more luckily they were able to keep the fire under control, although the ship did require some repairs.
Lavinia is particularly pleased as they recover her father’s signet ring which gives access to the families vault and would release much needed funds to keep her parents business running.
Lavinia offered the party a retainer fee to work for her. She asked them to escort her to the family vault under Castle Teraknian. There they discovered that the vault had been raided many of the strong boxes had been forced open and much of her families wealth stolen. Evidence unfortunately pointed towards her brother Vanthus Vanderboren as behind this crime. Lavinia ask the party to locate her brother who had gone missing shortly after her parents death.
After making some inquires the party learn from an informer, that he learn that he has been living in smuggler’s caves on Parrot Island. Unfortunately it turns out to be trap as Vanthus kills the informer and seals the entrance to the cave system.
The party discover the caves are full of undead zombies and that they aren’t the first people Vanthus has trapped down here. After defeating the zombies they discovered the body of Penkus, a rival to Vanthus that had helped him enter the Lotus Dragons thieves guild, and that Vanthus had left to die down here before the party.

The party escape via an underwater passage leading to the bay. They report to Lavinia and then set about discovering what they can about the Lotus Dragons.
Ignoring the obvious lead of the Taxidermists mentioned in Penkus’ note they take to the streets gathering information about the Lotus Dragons. This quickly attracts the attention of the guild, and they attempt to assassinate the player’s in a dark ally. The attempt fails and the adventures manage to track the fleeing assassins to a well that drops down to the guild’s hideout under the city.
The adventurers raid this hideout discovering evidence that links Vanthus to the fire that killed his parents and recovering much of the stolen wealth. The raid on the Lotus Dragons is a great success, they managed to break up the guild, but unfortunately the Lady Lotus, Rowyn Kellani, leader of the guild managed to escape.
They discover that Vanthus was not in the guild hideout as he had already sailed for Kraken Cove, located west of Sasserine in Blood Bay. There he planned a raid on a Crimson Fleet hideout.
