Ghandi updated the character Gunnar Esparza
Last Updated: about 1 month ago
Play Status: Currently Playing
You have no idea how much I want to find something to use that Oh Loki gif for.
I’ma just put this here since you’ll all get it and hopefully it enriches all your lives:
Onyx Path just released a new Scion supplement for April Fool’s Day that includes nearly forgotten gods and their loser scion progeny. I’ll be adding these new gods soon.
For those interested, Gunnar can now be followed on Twitter @MidgardSaviors
Gotham by Night has tweaked the way they handle Nature in their game. I WILL NOT be adapting their new system but they have added (and subtracted) a few natures. I see no problem with extending the list of possible Natures a player may choose from. If you are interested the page to view the new Natures is here:
>.> Oh yeah, my bad on the portrait. I think I had accidentally clicked “upload” instead of “update” or “save” or whatever it is the last time I was editing his page. Then I plumb forgot to put the picture back up when I had the chance.
Also moved “The Colonel” to GM view only until Jamison is able to play. This effectively makes him a non-entity as far as OP is concerned.
A few updates to some of your characters today:
• Added the “Retired” Tag to Nate and Kass until their players are interested in playing again.
• Moved Nate, Kass, Sarah and Kate into the NPC characters. This will not prevent their playability should their owners desire it.
• Gunnar had somehow lost his portrait and reverted to the default silhouette OP provides. I have reuploaded the image that was previously there.
Updated the Overworld & Underworld maps for easier comprehension today.
I think a new Scion is manifesting with a point of Epic Strength…
Suffice t say, we will not be having a session this weekend. I will let you know when we can restart the festivities. It will be soon, before the end of August for sure.
They are still Demigods for now. We have one player at Legend 7 and the rest just at the cusp of it or focusing on filling out there boon and knack portfolios.
They will be undergoing apotheosis sooner than they might realize though.
Hey guys, long time no chat.
Glad to see your still playing this great campaign.
Still in the Demigod stage? Or have you moved up the chain?
Jun 30th is the tentative date for our next session. Please let me know if this does not work with anyone’s schedule!
May 26th will no longer be a viable option. The next possible day I’m looking at is June 9th. Please let me know if this will work for you all.
What is everyone’s availability for May 26? That is Memorial Day and I am looking for Jennifer’s availability as well.
It’s that time again – the child scions will make a special guest appearance in the next session, and perhaps throughout the rest of this next story. They’ve got some saved up experience. If anyone has anything they think they should get you should speak up in their thread.
I’ve fiddled with the layout of the fatebindings page and added in some fatebound roles for locations to help spice up the fact that there won’t always be someone to become fatebound to in an area. I’m interested in hearing any problems, critiques or concerns you have with what I’ve added.
I’ve added the Hero level boons of the Titan-Blooded purview for your review and critique before moving on. This was added because I know not every character finds an interest in the PSP and I wanted to give you guys more options that reflect the mythological concept of the game. If anyone is interested in seeing more boons in the purview, let me know and I’ll keep working on it.
OK. I’m ready for the Duat session as of yesterday. Once that has happened I can do everyone else’s independent sessions.
I wanted to let you know I have a few things in the pipeline for Scion development too. I’m working on a Pantheon Level Purview that is available to all Scions that helps harness the Titanic element of their ichor, I’m expanding and tweeking the fatebinding system to include fatebound locations, and I’ll be reverse engineering the stat-blocks of the Aesir to help the design process of statting up the gods. If you have any opinions on the process of these things as they happen I am always open to suggestions.
I made some tweaks to fatebindings. It makes them slightly less painful or beneficial, but a lot easier to understand and track in the long run. I’ve updated everyone’s sheets to reflect this.
Frankly I think a lot of fate binding seems appropriate for the way that last session played out. There was some pretty hard-core action. :P
Whole lotta fatebinding goin’ on…
Advancement wiki page? Best idea ever. You are so smart.
Here’s a story from the location of a location of one of Tesla’s golden rods. The disappearance of the island is congruent with plan I had if you guys had handled things differently:
I, sir, take that as a challenge.
Updated the house rules on languages to reflect the even more expansive and near infinite nature of learning languages can be.
Update: Wanted to let everyone know there has been a change made to the Prophecy Purview, it has the option to work like the Mystery Purview i one desires it, it does come with a catch though. Check out the purview in the Wiki for more details.
Looks like we are a go on December 3. If anybody has a problem that comes up or if 6ish isn’t a good time, just let me know.
Family fun times is occurring for Heather and me, so this weekend is no go
I don’t think I can make it. Will be at my family’s during the weekend, but if everyone else can make it someone can play Harlan if they want.
Totally. I’m free Friday and Saturday, but Friday is preferable if both days are possible.
So since the doctors didn’t kill me, anyone want to play this weekend?
That you can see… I can tell you there are currently 118 NPCs with the “god” tag.
You’re going to need to explain that one.
I just noticed with my 1337 Math Genius abilities that this campaign currently has exactly 100 NPC entries. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
I really love reading about this campaign it’s at least partly responsible for me finally starting our Scion campaign at last.
Keep up the good work.
I’m less worried about characters who haven’t even been born yet, but I will keep that in mind as it did not occur to me when I was thinking over this decision.
Hadrian is going to use Stars, but I can deal with the change for him well enough. I think I meant for him to use the time aspect as well, mostly as an investigative device.
I’d most likely be getting stuff from the Time purview.
Just an FYI, I’m seriously looking at tearing the Stars purview in two and adding boons to both halves. One half will deal with the time aspect of it and one will deal with the actual stars aspect of it.
If anyone was looking to purchase anything out of that purview let me know ASAP.
The Sword of Broken Time will be used to access the Time Purview.
Yeah, I totally should have used Divine Rampage over Holy Rampage
So the relaunch of Wonder Woman comics… yeah, it’s about an unborn Scion needing protection and Wonder Woman is there to provide. Check it out!
Somehow the Stamina knacks didn’t have the ones from God on there. Sorry about that. If anyone sees any further lacking knacks, please let me know.
Dude, our Barack Obama picture makes him look like he’s about to SERIOUSLY fuck someone up. Putin, eat your heart out.
Wanted to let everyone know that OP has installed the ability to maintain subforums which I’d been praying for for a long time now. I will be dividing up our forum posts by storyline, if you guys see the needs for any new subforums, please let me know and I will create one.
You know what this means, right? We’re the only people that can put a stop to Morgan’s madness.
Yeah, she’s fine, aside from some minor annoyances.
And just to cement my power over the universe I will point out this:
P.S. Hope Jennifer is ok!
I KNOW! Morgan and I were getting lunch and saw that on one of the TV’s and just… stopped… and stared for a moment.
Apparently there was a 5.8 earthquake in DC today. It’s not quite New Jersey, but be afraid. O.O
I almost took Axiom with Laurel, but I wasn’t sure if it made sense for her to have it. Maybe as a Prophecy person I could explain it… I could see Gunnar getting it with the nature revamp though. And seeing snakes everywhere.
Reading up on Knacks for tonight and “ZOMG how do none of you have Axiom!?” I fear the day that knack become commonplace.
But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!
So, Laurel’s vision of Nate losing an arm was totally a Star Wars reference.
_ Thank you. I like having my ego stroked.
Big ups to the Storyteller. Well done, sir.
All I see when I look at Alex and Eric Esparza’s picture is a face staring back at me.
We’ve been playing Scion since January. O_O
I’ve gotten the Physical Knacks up to 100% including new things from “Gotham by Night.” For those of you working with other Attributes, please let me know when you have it wet up and I will insert what I’ll allow from Gotham. Also, thank you very much for the help.
Finally brought Tuatha Traveller (Brendan’s journal) somewhat up-to-date; Apologies for being such a slacker, couldn’t find my muse until last night. Or else it was just an excess of caffeine on a Friday night with nothing better to do ;-)
I think you most certainly are.
We must be doing something right.
So, by the way, Gunnar’s beginning a journal. It might not last, but he’s trying it out.
In any case, I’m planning to catch-up the adventure log through it’s first couple of posts. Once they’re all ready I’ll be putting them directly into the adventure logs.
For some reason that reminds me of this shirt:
“I hope I am
good enough writer
that some day
dwarves kill me
& drink my blood
You know, when you put it like that… “siring children to save all of creation”… it really makes us sound like over-achievers. Like our divine parents should have stickers to put on the back of their divine chariots (or viking long boats as the case may be) that say “My child defeated armies of titanspawn and will be sung of for ages in the celestial realms of __________.”
ooops that was Morgan again
;) I thought it was a poignant thing in a game about siring children to save all of creation.
I just discovered that we have a section in the House Rules concerning reproduction. Something I actually needed to know.
Love the new pic for Hachiman, by the way! ;-) So he WAS Great Teacher Onizuka after all! That makes sense!! That dude would NEED god-abilities to get out of all the scrapes he gets into…
Alrighty, since we’re doing the gaming thing tomorrow I went ahead and truncated Laurel’s ramblings for the most recent adventure log. If I left something out or got something out of order, lemme know. Or feel free to do your own writeup and replace mine :)
Yeah, I’m a bit skeptical of the situation myself (some gray areas that I don’t think will likely be colored in any time soon, plus some sensible “conspiracies” have been starting up), but if it is true, I am a bit disappointed in my thoughts…I don’t really feel strongly about it, and I’m not sure if I really even should at this point.
Didn’t help that one of my first reactions was, ‘How would this have worked in WoD/Scion’…
I can only assume you mean Osama bin Laden. I’m glad he’s dead. I think there’s some smelly things that surround the situation and will continue to, but in the end I think the world is a safer place without him in it.
So, on a topic (highly unlikely) related to your game, how do y’all feel about the recent turn of events? I only just found out 15min. ago.
Personally, I just wondered about what went down in those rooms…how it played out, y’know?
Thanks for all the hard work, GM ;)
I’ll go through and proofread for spacing/formatting consistency. Except on the Justice Purview. Someone else can proofread that one.
The boons are finally at a point that I’m comfortable saying they are “done.” There are a number of new one available, both completely altered and borrowing from Gotham by Night, these last I’ve merely provided links. A few have small alterations which I’ve put in italics below the link.
I still need to add the Persian gods to their respective purview so you may see some editing from that, and I will eventually finish off the Pantheon specific ones but for now I’m going to focus on Knacks.
Stay safe over there!!!
Sorry for the blank double-post (failed keyboard shortcut), and for making this a 3-hit combo now…
Just wanted to clarify, the quotations marks are not sarcasm.
Also, addendum to Ghandi: I’ll have to look into that setup stuff for internet games…
By the Gods, I want to teach some Japanese students here to play these games!
Thanks for the “offer”, MorganWilliams. Lack of physical presence aside, time-of-day issues would pose additional problems for the next few months…I’m doing a Study Abroad in Nagasaki, Japan at the moment. I’m 14 hrs. ahead of US Central time.
Ghandi, the first Scion game I was a part of was actually done like that; unfortunately, it was really difficult to keep track of what was going on, plus a lot of dialogue was changed when one person “spoke” before another and revisions had to be made.
It definitely has a lot of potential, though. In the D&D game I ran from Nov. ’09 to Dec. ’10, we had a player who did a study abroad in Fukuoka, Japan. We Skyped him in, and apart from having to adjust cameras frequently for combat for him (battle maps w/ minis), it was pretty fluid.
Also, Maesenko, I don’t know if you’ve considered this, but I’ve ran a few games actually over the internet. Using resources like AIM chat rooms, Google Docs drawing feature (in which you can make battle grids and the like), and Obsidian Portal one can put together a pretty good game for a few players. It gets difficult if you have too many people at once due to typing delays, but otherwise it can work out pretty well.
If you lived anywhere near us I would easily invite you to play along with us!
I just want to say this to you all…Thank you for having fun, and for sharing it here on Obsidian Portal. I genuinely, and thoroughly, enjoy what you are all doing, even if I am getting it from an outsider’s perspective.
If only the people back home knew how to play this game…regrettably, most gamers I know have no idea what Scion even is.
My response to Ares’ pic: "HA HA HA HA HA… ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….. <3>
Yup, the new follower on the blog is me.
I investigated, the new follower would be mi esposo.
Good session, guys. My thanks to the Trinh’s for hosting us and letting us see their new pad.
Correction…ya’ll’s character blogs have new followers outside our circle. Also added Nate’s other blog to my Blogroll on Tuatha Traveler.
I also learned after creating mine that “The Travelers” are officially what Irish Tinkers are called (essentially people whose lifestyle and economic lot in life is much like European gypsies but are a non-Roma, Celtic people)…
My PC Brendan is not one of these people; the blog’s name is just a coincidence.
Hey, looks like we have a new fan/follower of this campaign. Welcome, Ghostbreaker.
Also, I noticed Tuatha Traveler has a new follower besides Jess and Dennis.
Enter, The God of Rock!
roflmao, I love the key-tar.
I needed to warn everyone. We need to be prepared for our latest enemy.
Very cool session tonight, guys. Thanks for making it happen. Thanks also to the GM, for letting me re-boot Brendan; Felt like he’s finally pulling his own weight & contributing to the team this time.
Morgan said that Ian only has a week to live and that his dying wish is to play Scion this Saturday.
Sorry, I’m busy Saturday.
Just for the record, I could totally see this being a situation a scion could find themselves in. http://www.smbc-comics.com/?db=comics&id=1465#comic (Be sure to mouse-over the little red circle below the comic to see the extra panel!)
Brendan just updated his account of the compound battle in his journal…
“We’re on a mission from gods…Parts 1 & 2”
It only covers what Brendan was able to see from his vantage point, since he wasn’t privy to much of what on inside the school except for text updates from Nate & Gunnar, etc.
Got tonight (last night?) up under the adventure log in Gunnar’s M.O. I may expand it once the forum conversation has fleshed out enough for him to have something specific to say to his mother about it, and feel free to point out any inaccuracies or things I’ve left out. _
Nate’s had to drop his three dots of Epic Dex and Wits due to a bit of misreading of the rules. But on the bright side, he’s now Legend 4 and has enough points to get a third dot in epic Dex or Wits
BTW, like Laurel, Brendan O’Shea now has a journal/blog. See his character page for the link at the bottom. The name of the blog is “Tuatha Traveler”.
I discovered that this person who favorited our game has a Scion Character Profile Template on one of his campaign site. His site’s not well developed, but I’m going to link the template in case anyone wants to see it. It looks like he/she is making it his/her self. http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-vault/characters/scion-character-profile-template
…I’m just going to carry on like no one is watching.
I should have Laurel’s next blog up today!
Someone favorited our campaign. I’m suddenly very self-conscious.
For the record, I will be available this Saturday if everyone else is.
It’s a great chance for Nate to use Vigil Brand. He will feel guilty if Laurel gets hurt due to any repercussions from saving his life.
Poor Nate, man (not sarcasm). In hindsight, maybe it would have been better if Laurel hadn’t gone psycho militant on Marie. On the plus side, she was seriously stalking you.
*My memory is sketchy after a certain point of the evening.
I posted what I’ve written of our latest adventure. I also realized that my memory of last night is after a certain point in the evening. Feel free to punch up the text with whatever y’all remember. I ended it after I took the cuffs off Laurel and will write up the rest later.
Added a bit about Don Henley in the second session’s adventure log.
For serious. It doesn’t end well. Worse than that, there wasn’t really any reason Laurel had to suspect they’d be up there fighting shinobi with ticking bombs next to their heads so she couldn’t rush up and help them.
I was biting my nails, and I wasn’t even in the combat.
Now I understand why you guys don’t like splitting up anymore.
I added in my notes from the second session, so it’s all through the eyes of deputy pritchert. I’ll throw in the bits about don Henley when I can.
Hey, Dennis, I was checking out your question and I think that if we just reorder the posting times then it will display the posts the way we want.
Is there a way to rearrange the adventure log? I have the majority of our second session (third if you count the ones where the deputy didn’t show up) and I can post that one.
Thanks yskah, I’ve been playing Fable I way too much.
Been pimpin’ Brendan’s profile again (and Aisling’s)…check ’em out…
Definitely had fun my first time out, and it was refreshing to play on a weekend where I didn’t have to keep one eye on my watch thinking about getting up for work the next day.
Oh! I really liked your “Jack of all Blades” addendum, very clever on a few levels.
This game has officially become an addiction, I think. I’m really looking forward to the next time we all get to play.
