Hope Springs Eternal is a British daytime drama set at the end of the 20th century. It takes place in the fictional city of Glastenberg, which bears many similarities to York. It first aired on September 25th, 2045, and has won numerous awards.

In early 2059, the majority of the primary cast and crew went on strike, arguing for better pay and more character control. Rather than catering to the requests of the cast, the executive producers simply replaced the majority of the cast and most of the writing and directing crew, and relaunched the program in an radically different direction. Many cast members that had not gone on strike were kept on, but also had their character’s rebooted. This restructure has caused much dissent and most fans have split into one of two factions. The fans of the old series, called The McLauerys, and the fans of the new reboot, known as the Hustons, both representing the defining families of the original and the new series.
