The Awakening is a dramatic event that occurs around 2011. It is generally used to refer to the reemergence of magic into the world. This was to be a very catastrophic event for most of the people in the world. For some, it brought great opportunities, for others it caused great strife.

The term Awakening is also used to refer to the emergence of magical talent in any specific individual. Anyone who begins to show magical talent is said to have been Awakened, and those who can/do use magic actively are said to be Awakened. Variations on this theme are used to describe people who are not full magicians. However, the terms “groggies” and “sleepies” were used as derogatory ways to describe aspected magicians or shamans.
