I awoke with a start, gnashing teeth and swinging hooks… Darkness. I heard the screams and I made a tactical retreat. I noticed my stoic companion Sir Jarvyk, a dwarven Paladine had the same idea as me. We caught our wits and once bolstered returned to our place of rest to aid our companions in their plight.

Gone, naught but bits of flesh and blood spray upon darkened walls marked the sight of the fight. Truly the halls of the Underdark are treacherous indeed. Sir Jarvyk and I decided to keep moving or these monstrosities might have a chance to catch us as well. We began our trek in search of the Kuo-Toa city that would lead us to the dragon and my prize. I am grateful to Sir Jarvyk for his aid in this task.

We traveled for a few hours before noticing a glow in the distance. We approached hesitantly before we were able to discern it’s shape… A canoe! it was a floating, glowing canoe! Sir Jarvyk halted me and told me to hold, that something approached. I did as told and we were greeted by an odd man who had apparently seen us and decided it was pertinent to approach.

We met the rest of this Karamus group who were appearing a bit rag-tag and were fleeing the Kuo-Toa city apparently being harried by some winged beast that I could not place a finger on the description. We explained our situation and they theirs. Apparently they had lost their spell caster to the creature and another arcanist it would seem.

We decided to join forces, it seemed appropriate at the time, they knew the location of the Kuo-Toa city and were short on allies, we know more about the depths of the city (due to their lack of knowledge of the dragon in it’s hidden halls). It seemed a mutually benificial agreement, we just had to aid one of their’s, a fair young girl by the name Fey, back to the surface. Apparently it was her foolhardy master and instructor that fell before the beast that they were fleeing from. I wish his spirit good rest.

I was a little hesitant to display my full learning… I am not wholely proud of my Necromantic prowess. I simply informed the rest of them that I was an arcanist. No lie, just simple truths, I am an arcanist, a spell weaver, despite my affiliation with the workings of the dead and my knowledge of the dark art of Necromancy.

We returned to the Kuo-Toa city using the canoe that they had absconded with. Apparently our new allies consisted of another Dwarf fighter, who does not fit the general dwarven description. A rather interesting bumpkin type fellow by the name of Bransen, who fancies himself a Sorceror, but seems to have an affinity for the Divine schools. Finally the Cansen, creature of Chaos, by the name of Karamus, energetic and talkative fellow he is.

We did not get far within the vile amphibians keep before being set upon by the creature. A demon it was, with a quiver of arrows and flameing mane. We attacked whole heartedly and after some time and some tactical manuvering taking away the advantage of space it had in the large chamber, it fell to our hands.

We gathered up the things dropped and continued up to a resting place within the immediate keep to recuperate and regenerate our lost spell reserves. We will continue on tomorrow.
