The policy up until this point has been that every character whose player attended a game took an equal split of experience points for every encounter in which they took part. Anyone missing a session for whatever reason was denied all XP for the session with the exception of journal XP, if they chose to write up an entry based on the adventure log. It has come to the GM’s attention that this does not serve his agenda of progressing the average party level to match the recommendation set out at the beginning of each chapter of the adventure path.

Naturally, the GM doesn’t want to have to do additional work by modifying encounters and the like to account for lower level characters. As such, he is implementing a new policy. Any character that takes part in a given encounter receives an equal split of experience points. If their player was not in attendance, this award is reduced by 25%. Additionally, a player not in attendance will not receive the roleplaying award(s) for that session. They may still write a journal entry based on the Adventure Log for the normal award.

The GM will be adding XP to the totals of surviving characters whose players have missed games in the past. You’re welcome. Try to show up in the future. ;)
