The Shackled City

Away From Campaign. Back In October

D&D (3.5)

Karamus Invinious

The party met Karamus Invinious at the home of Crazy Jared, as he and the old hermit were being interrogated by the red dragon Gotrrod about the lair of the black dragon Dhorlot. The cansin had sought Jared out because he desired to loot the city of Bhal-Hamatugn but did not know how to get into the Underdark. Through negotiations with Flannigaul, he agreed to join forces with the party so that their odds of success would increase. After the gnome was killed by the cryohydra guarding the Pit of Seven Jaws, Karamus desired to try to sneak past the beast, but relented when Kort steadfastly refused to proceed without returning to Cauldron to see if they could acquire more help.

After the “successful” venture into Bhal-Hamatugn, Karamus officially joined the Silver Phoenix Adventuring Company, because despite their recent run of bad fortune, they seemed to embark on profitable ventures. He is the self-styled quartermaster for the party’s loot, and though everyone suspects (rightly) that he is skimming off the top, no one has yet called him on it. Apparently, they accept it as an appropriate fee for not having to do any bookkeeping themselves.

He recently discovered that there was more to his pilfered rapiers than he formerly knew. His suspicions were confirmed when the half-fiend Kaurophon recognized Twin Star, and assured the cansin that they were powerful relics, although their power was significantly diminished on Prime Material planes. Upon engaging in his first encounter against a demon on Occipitus, a hint of the rapiers’ true power was revealed. Daystar dealt additional holy damage to the outsider, much to everyone’s surprise. Interestingly, the power only seemed to work against outsiders, as the driders encountered within the Cathedral of Feathers suffered no such additional injury. He continued to wonder at the true nature of the weapons that had effectively taken his sister from him.
