On our second day from Pearlglen, we ran into three Hill Giants attacking a single human woman. Being who and what we are, we immediately rushed to the rescue. Spells and powers were released upon the Giants, including a mist that blocked our sight of the creatures. The Cratures took off into the woods and we followed. Alright, some of us followed.

Greyjek has proven to be one of us by blindly following our enemies and engaging them. Not wishing for him to die or for me to miss out on a fight, I followed. There was a burst of lightning that I would guess came from Greyjek, and then some blows exchanged, but the giants would be too much for the two of us and we had to retreat. The Giants chose not to engage the whole group and left.

Bransen seemed to have some connection to the woman we rescuer, being of similar countenance. She seemed to recognize Branson in some manner, but as her business was pressing, she left on her way to Sasserine .

Ah, Cauldron. The Place now called home in my head. Although, I would not put such stupid and obnoxious guards on my door. Our friend, Sergeant Skylar Krewis, stepped in to keep us from a fight and we managed to get home.

Of course, now that we were home, we all left to take care of personal issues. We had heard of Tercival’s recanting of his accusations, the removal of soldiers from the Redgorge area, and the return of Maavu.

Jarvyk and I went to the Drunken Morkoth where we ran into Fario Ellegoth and Fellian Shard of the Striders of Fharlanghn. We spoke of Tercival’s demise and Tercival’s recanting of his challenge. (curse my ale sodden memory, that I gave away such information in a crowded place. Tyro Amberhelm at least heard our talk)

After, I went to speak to Jenya Urikas about Tercival, being that she sent me after him in the first place. When she heard of his death, she asked about recovering his body. Not knowing where we were when we buried him, we would be unable to recover his corpse. I offered to bring as many of his personal effects as I could.

Business attended to, we chose to rest some time at home.

We heard that Maavu had been arrested by the new Magical Threats Agency after a bar brawl. And now rumors that Tercival had been killed BEFORE his apology were running rampart around Cauldron.

Karamus got a letter, which is unusual for him.

Bransen, Ashton, and Jarvyk went to the Tipped Tankard, where the brawl took plae. They heard commentary about a bag and some trickery that may have been involved. When they were on their way home, they ovheard som mercenaries speaking of a new trip to Redgorge.

Being of a mind to keep promises, I set about gathering Tercival’s personal effect to return to Jenya Urikas, but I was unable to find his signet ring. No one else was able to find it in their possession either.

We were discussing this in the Hall, when a fireball went off.

Then a wave of Unholy energy swept over us and a Half-orc charged through the air from our balcony and attacked Bransen. This half-orc was seemingly walking on air and brought a silence with him. Karamus stabbed him in the back and we saw the rest of our attackers on the balcony above us. Ashton and Kan’ti moved toward the kitchen and the Archer above us fired 4 (FOUR!!) arrows into Bransen. The woman launched a magical attack at Asthon, and I ran up the stairs to attack them. When I reached the top, I found that there was another person that zortched me from hiding, invisibility? I tried to keep them from attacking my companions while they gathered themselves, but the archer stepped off the balcony into air and fired more arrows into me and I passed out. Fate alone knows why I wasn’t dead.

My companions took out the all the attackers but one, who fled through a broken window that they must have entered through.

These folks came well prepared for us… “Who wants us dead and how do they know so much about us?”

Bransen, Greyjek, Ashton and I made a quick trip to Sassering via a wind spell to collect pearls or Identification Spells. Karamus and Jarvyk meanwhile spoke to Skylar Krewis, who suggested that they give the bodies to the guard to Speak with Dead.

Jarvyk and Bransen went to find out about Maavu. Unable to speak with Lord Vhalantru, they were told that the MTA was holding him and investigating the possibility that the evidence against Maavu had been forged. Bransen, fate driven as always, cast a spell that located Tercival’s ring at the City Hall.

(WHAT?!? How the Fewk did it wind up there, did the assassins get it before they attacked us? Why? How?)

They went to Jenya Urikas, to find a way to speak to Maavu, and she told them she could the next day.

Ashton and Greyjek meanwhile went to the Bluecrater Academy to research possible ways to get to Sigil for Karamus, who had received a letter from the man holding his sister for ransom.

By a sending spell, Maavu claimed that a letter and Tercival’s ring had been found by the guards. He did not know who was framing him, but that The Chisel might help.

Skylar Krewis came by to share the information about the assassins and all he could tell us was “Veiled Lady”. Jarvyk pointed out that that was a name for Wee Jas. What? (again) And why would Wee Jas hate us?

A visit to Wee Jas’ temple was in order. Door locked and no response, a lower priest was able to tell us that no one except the higher-ups was inside.

Jarvyk and I went to find Skylar to find out what the guard would do.

We finally found Skylar in the Drunken Morkoth, where he assured us that the Temple of Wee Jas would block any investigation, but that the guard would not be investigating any retaliation on our part.

The rest of the Company found us in the tavern and told us that the Temple was now open for us. A small amount of confusion on this issue leads me to believe that Karamus opened the lock himself. When we reached the Temple, the doors were locked again. Ashton and then Greyjek ported into the temple where we heard sounds of combat. Karamus fianly got the lock open and we joined the fight against a couple of Giants, some half-orc and a priest. Jarjyk and I kept the giants and half-orcs busy while the casters took out the Cleric. We let the last giant go with Greyjek’s “Go and make babies.”

We know face new choices and challenges in the Temple of the Veiled Lady.
