Xelios Kooper
Xelios met the Silver Phoenix Adventuring Company on 2 Readying, 592 CY. He had become bored with his role as a professor of evocation at the Bluecrater Academy and sought a more exciting lifestyle. The party had made a reputation for themselves by solving the murder of Sarcem Delasharn, the local high priest of Saint Cuthbert, and then recovering most of the stolen wands of water control, which were instrumental in preventing the worst of the flooding damage over the winter.
His companion Hannelora Nailo, the lovely elven cleric of Spring, helped smooth the way during the initial meeting, but things got a little rockier the following day when during a shopping trip, the streets of Cauldron were attacked by a fiendish umber hulk. The party hoped to intervene, but most of them were sorely affected by the monster’s confusing gaze. Xelios seemed to catch the worst of it, and began attacking his own allies and nearby citizens, no longer able to tell friend from foe.
After Asuni slew the creature, Flannigaul and the others shook off their confusion and the gnome was quick to begin disaster recovery. He talked the half-orc city guard supplements out of killing Xelios in the street, bandied with the Magical Threat Assessment Agents who came to investigate, and even served as Xelios’ lawyer, getting bail waived, and having the elf remanded into the Silver Phoenixes’ custody, pending a hearing. It seemed that for the moment, his fate was tied to theirs, metaphorically and legally.
The loss of Asuni at the claws of the hunting roc, his companion Hannelora’s death in the fiery breath of the red dragon Gotrrod, and then the sudden death of the plucky gnome bard Flannigaul to the hydra at the Pit of Seven Jaws dampened some of Xelios’ eagerness about the adventuring life. Thus sobered, he returned with Kort and their new companion Karamus to Cauldron, hoping to find assistance in defeating the hydra guardian of the Underdark entrance.
Xelios was later slain by an erinyes devil in the Shrine to the Sea Mother at the heart of Bhal-Hamatugn on 21 Readying, 592 CY.
