As the chronicle spans over more than 700 years, it’s quite natural that the characters will be visiting more than a couple of places. Also, there are probably some places where the characters might never need to visit, but still deserves a mention in the chronicle.
Cainites are very territorial beings, and therefore those who travel at night should quickly learn who the local prince is and what the local laws are. Trespassers are often dealt with in a harsh fashion, unless he is very powerful, and the best way to avoid bloodshed and other confrontations is to be armed with knowledge.
Some of these locations exist in reality, while others are purely fictional (or existed so long ago that any evidence would be purely speculative). I have taken my freedom to modify any facts I seem fit for the coherence of my vision of the setting. If anyone would like to use this setting as it is, or simply use it as an inspirational source for their own chronicles, feel free to do so. If then you are unhappy with some of the changes I’ve made to actual places or think that the fictional ones aren’t your thing, change them as you like. This is how I roll.
There existed very few larger settlements before the Roman Invasion, so therefore most cities have names in Roman Latin. Also, since Mithras was the single most influential vampire in the region and his choice of language was Latin, it became the dominant language of Britannia’s cainites. And since vampires are habitual creatures, most have chosen to refer to the cities by their Roman names even long after the Empire fell. The newer cainite population, hailing from the “barbaric” peoples such as the Angles and the Saxons, sometimes ignore this and form their own customs, while others find it much easier to interact with the local vampires after learning Latin. Of course, not all are intent on dialogue…
Places of Interest
Not all vampires live in the cities. Since the majority of the kine live in the countryside or in outlying farms, many choose to settle there. Also, not all events in the chronicle are played in the cities. In this section, you will find forts, villages, battlefields, shrines and other places of interest to the chronicle.
