The Haunted Forest is a semi-circular region of forest that surrounds the town of Tacket from coast to coast. Its name originates from a widely- and strongly- believed rumour that the forest is haunted by murderous ghosts, who will exact swift revenge on all those who step between the trees. A single dirt path winds through the forest to Tacket, and it is believed that all those who stay on the path will meet no harm. With the exception of this path, the Haunted Forest effectively blocks all land access to Tacket. This is of no concern to the hundreds of travellers and merchants who reach the docks of Tacket via the Central Sea.
