Tacket
Tacket is a rapidly-growing town that lies on the east cost of the Central Sea, roughly between Lookshy and Thorns. Tacket is separated from all nearby villages by an oppressive Haunted Forest, which surrounds Tacket from coast to coast. Tacket is also surrounded by tall, sturdy walls at all land approaches, and a healthy garrison in a keep near the town’s only gate.
Tacket was originally a small and obscure fishing town before the discovery of lucrative whaling brought upon a sudden influx of immigrants, ranging from captains and merchants to lowly adventurers looking for a new start. Tacket is now almost a small city, and the chaotic arrival of new purses has resulted in a bustling marketplace, and thriving business for the town’s old taverns and docks. Tacket also boasts a temple for the worship of Tia-Shan, a faith that is rapidly spreading throughout its new residents.
The population explosion coincides with the rise of a mysterious Inner Council that rules Tacket and regulates trade. The Inner Council live in a small walled-off section of the town, known as the Inner City, home only to city officials and those that serve them. The Inner Council rule Tacket with a firm philosophy of free commerce, similar to Nexus, and react strongly towards anything that would inhibit trade. It is clear that the Inner Council seek to keep Tacket sovereign from the influence of the Dragon Blood.
