This is the site where the party encountered Agrid the gnome and his underlings. After defeating the impromptu archaeologists, they found their friend Douven Staul, who had been captured by the gnome and forced to reveal what he knew about the burial site. Douven had been a captive of the gnome for over two weeks before the party came along.
