Balasar Entry 4
Day of 26 March, we goes back to old keep and do exploreing. The keep was still not safe and others might hurt their selfs if we did not finish killing everything in there. So we did the exploring. Syler, the small, used keen eyes and brains to make traps be clear and also for us to not step on them. His mouth moves often, but still he sees things I do not, so I try to leave him alone about the yapping all the time. If he wants to stop telling me about traps then I might fall into them, and then all of us would be in trouble. Enemies that make traps, I think, would want to attack us when one of their traps is set off. We do better to not set them off.
Still, even with traps not a big danger, the places in the keep that enemies come from are special. Most of us can see into them but only Syler can fit into them. That made me nervous the whole time in their. I protected Etholin, because he is weak. Other stood in front and looked for enemies. I stayed with Etholin to make sure things did not come from the cracked walls and kill him first. If stuff came out, and we got in trouble, I would want Etholin to burn those things. The others did not seem to understand my place, but it did not matter because we won.
When the beasts with many legs did come, I ran to fight them. They must have known what I was doing because that is when they attacked. Etholin got hurt and I felt bad. But, like I said already, we won so it does not matter. When all of that was done, and we made the biggest of them die, I was happy. Morthos was not happy. We talked and he did a good thing; made me see why my weapon was not as good as his weapon and also why my weapon should be more better for me than what I already had. It was really confu.. did not make sense. But, Morthos is smart so I let him pick what I should use. I really like my halebeard. It lets me hit things that are far away, and also things that are close. But Morthos said it would be better for everyone if I just used his weapon and he just used my weapon. I think he is smarter than me, because I tried things his way and they were not wrong.
We fought a fierce water demon very soon after I started doing things the way Morthos wanted them and, even though we got hurt a lot, the demon thing died fast. Also it had a treasure to get, and I did that. There was water in the room, and a lot of it. So the others were scared to drown. I was not, so I jumped across the water and got the treasure. It was actually a dead person though. We still took the dead person’s stuff, but it was less like things the demon took and more like things the person that saw the demon last didn’t have a chance to leave with. His body was still there and it stunk some. The others said that the things we got from the dead person meant that he was probably some kind of messenger; but if that was true then he was a bad messenger because there was only one way into that room so the messenger could not have been going straight to where he was supposed to be going. If I send a messenger some place he better go straight to that place, otherwise my stuff would not get there as quick as it could and that is the whole point of having a messenger. If someone wanted the thing they sent to get to a place at any time then they could just take it themselves, whenever they wanted to go to that place next. Messengers need to do their job like they are supposed to do so that stuff like what happened to this messenger do not happen to them. I think this messenger was curio.. was cureius about other things in this room, and cureiusness does not make a good plan. That is what I think.
So, we did some reading and thought about what to do after the water demon thing, since we had a whole bunch of new enformasion. Etholin and the scouting people made some deciding, because a lot of the time they are the deciders. We did what they thought was best and explored some more. When we came to a room with many tombs, I went inside. Again, I think the others were scared. This time they were right to be scared. Dead people came RIGHT OUT OF THEIR TWOMBS when I walked in. They kept coming and coming and coming and we had to kill them and kill them and kill them until they stopped coming and then we stopped killing them. It was a lot of swinging and crushing, foul smelling, work… none of which I am very in favor of… well except for the work.
What happened next makes me sick even to right now. We looked in a room near the place where we fought the dead, after Morthos rudely prayed to Bahamut right in front of me AND GOT REWARDED FOR IT. Man, I really hate that Bahamut. I mean yeah, people say he believes in all the stuff I believe in, or at least that is what it sounds like, but he such a weak leader to follow. Tiamat is… not good, exactly, but is very powerful and would win if Bahamut tried to kill her… so I think it is stupid to worship Bahamut. Always worship the strongest of your leaders, but be strong enough in your own self to do what YOU think is right. People who only worship things that agree with them are missing the point of being led. Anyway, the thing that makes me sick even to right now, Sir Keegan.
There were stories about this Keegan, and they were very bad, they ARE very bad… but we met him, the dead him, and that has to be worse than the him that was alive and crazy, because now he is dead and crazy. He got right out of his tomb, tried to scare us to death. We almost fought him, and would have probly won I think, but Etholin had to come forward and start talking to the… thing. It didn’t seem right. They told riddles back and forth but never fought. We were ready the whole time. In the end, even though we didn’t fight, I think we won because Keegan gave us his sword, his magic sword, and wanted us to keep the evil in Shadowfell Keep IN Shadowfell Keep. He wanted us to make the rift not open, which was the thing he was supposed to do but couldn’t do because he went crazy and killed most of his people. It seemed like a good plan at the time, so we accepted and then left… before the crazy dead Keegan went more crazy and started trying to kill more.
On the way out of that place Morthos, again rudely, started praying to Bahamut right in front of me. I was going to say something to him about it, but there in that place he found some really nice dragon statues. They seemed valuable, and there were enough for everyone, so I took one. Bahamut is weak and inferior, but maybe a statue in the likeness can get a lot of money for me, especially one made with such good material. To be funny, I think, Syler the small mocked Morthos and it was, indeed, very funny. He pretended to pray at an alter next to Morthos, saying all the same things and everything. It was a great break from all the walking dead stuff, and what Morthos deserved.
More exploring followed, where we found an invisible wall and some odd magic traps. Neither was hard to get past, but the pretend wall had zombie things on the other side and those were bad. We killed them all, and nobody got hurt real bud, but they stunk a lot and so I still think they were very bad. When they died, even more strange stuff happened. The room we were all in spoke to us. I was startled. Rooms do not usually speak to me, I mean sure.. they ‘speak’ to me sometimes. Like I can think that a room is really good and is useful and people say that means that the room ‘speaks’ to you, but this one said words, and a lot of them. We did not listen really well, but it did ask us to tell it the answer to some kind of riddle… so we guessed. What’s the worst that can happen, I thought. Morthos said something, Tolis-Va said something, I said something. In the end, the room got mad, I think, and yelled at us. Then the suit of armor, there was a suit of armor in the room on an armor stand, crumbled to dust right there while we stood and watched it. I was very impressed to see such a thing. If we could learn how to make our enemies do that we could rid this place of any other enemies and then fix all the problems in the world. But I think it was magic, and a trap, so I’m just happy we got away from there without getting killed, or worse.
