Thrakath Entry 2
Cage – Prey
Tarrantus – Hunted
Belgarde – Prey
Feh – Prey
Soveliss – Prey
With my belly full, we waited for the tiefling to perform the sacred rituals of raising the dead on a friend of his. This eladrin looked weak and frail in its flippant clothing. I grew bored of watching and napped off an on until the ritual was completed. The eladrin came back to life and immediately began talking. It has not shut up yet. A hunter it is not. Its voice would scare away prey long before it ever came close. It called itself Soveliss, a galliard of self importance. All I could think about as it talked was if I had enough cow meat to last me through its speech.
With the talker back with its friends, we finally got back on the hunt for the tiefling wizard. The others talked with demonic doors and blindly walked through evil portals, all without the presence of mind to think about what they were doing. I dwelled on the implications of what would happen, on what the price was for entrance through portals of terror and deception. Feh was especially annoying, running back and forth through the portals like a child. Then they chide me. I will not forget such a slight.
After the portals, we came upon a wretched encampment of foulspawn who were trying to provide comfort to lowly humans and other creatures. The creatures smelled foul and their sleazy talk did not sit well with me. The others decided to listen to what the thing had to say. I remained outside of the tent to watch for any sneak attacks. None came but it was wise to be cautious considering the place we were in.
From the tent city, we moved on to encounter an aspect of the tiefling wizard. Apparently the wizard was split into three forms and each form that is defeated gets us closer to escaping the prison. With that in mind, I was all for hunting the wizard aspect. The fight was difficult due to the howling vortex of winds in the room. Due to quick thinking by Feh in destroying one of the focus pillars, the vortex ended and we were able to end the hunter and bath in the blood of the tiefling. It was glorious.
With the aspect dead, it left only one more to hunt and I was eager to get moving on. The decided to move further into the complex were we encounter some foulspawn and a destrachan and a grick. It proved to be a difficult fight as they tried to protect their territory. Cage, as I suspected, could not take the punishment the creatures dished out. I was able to inspire him with words of encouragement though, which helped him get through the rest of the fight.
I am unsure as to why the creatures fought so fearsomely in that section of hallways. I can only conclude that we must be getting close. It won’t be long now till I can see the sun once more.
