The Lyn-Srial was asked to take the video back to Arzno. Reluctantly he agreed, giving Wade his axe as Wade handed him a computer and an Armor of Ithan amulet for protection. I watched as he flew off and went back inside the APC.
The next few hours had been uneventful as we tried to figure out where we needed to head. We decided to just start driving south and we drove through the night without incident. The next morning however was another matter.
We had pulled up to the edge of a forest when something came onto the APC’s radar. Wade had us pull to a stop and we watched as three Splugorth units came floating out of the water. Almost in unison, everyone leapt into action. Wade ran to his armor, ordering Saruman to transform and had under the APC. Marcus got into the Boom Gun station and I began to put my own crystal armor on. At this point the Splugorth slaves noticed the magically armed Coalition APC and made course towards us.
Wade began ordering everyone to stay inside until necessary. All I could do was watch as Marcus opened fire with the Boom Gun. I had heard about how destructive they were but this was the first time I had actually seen it in action. As it ripped through the first one, I saw the slaver ship on the far right suddenly flip around, doing a loop through the air, sending the Blind Warrior Women flying through the air. Marcus didn’t let up and kept the trigger pulled, unleashing a barrage of death until it was nothing but Warrior Women running on foot at us.
At this point Wade told him to stop and got out of his armor, grabbed the Lyn Srial’s axe and walked outside, telling us to wait. Wade stood there, waiting for the women to get closer. As they came to a stop, my jaw almost dropped when he challenged their leader to a one on one duel, the loser would be at the winner’s mercy. The Warrior Woman agreed and allowed Wade to take an Armor of Ithan amulet from Saruman.
The fight took about a minute before the Warrior Woman stepped back, dropping her weapon in a sign of defeat. Wade sagged against his axe, covered in cuts and blood. I relaxed slightly until a group of the Women seemed upset that their leader wanted to honor their agreement. Half began walking towards Arzno like Wade asked, intending on having them leave the ranks of the Splugorth. The other group took off in the opposite direction.
At that moment Nux had decided to bug me about the water again. Absent mindedly I handed it to her, telling her to be careful. A few minutes later she came back terrified, and gave back the water, saying she didn’t want it anymore. Curious, I unhooked my helmet and sat down to perform Object Read on the vial of water. It took a few tries before I saw anything, but what I saw was horrifying.
I had a sky view of a city, the sky covered in thick black clouds, vampires walking through the streets, people strapped to stone benches for feeding. The vision zoomed to a fountain. A vampire reached into it with a cup, bringing the water to a gaunt, dying man. When the water went between the man’s lips, I watched as his body became healthy and vibrant again before he was carried off by vampires. That’s when I saw her. The same woman from my visions was being dragged by vampires to the well. The same process was done to her and she looked more beautiful than I thought possible. Immediately after, she was carried off by six vampires, all of whom were struggling to keep her pinned down. The vision slowly began to fade as I saw a tattooed man similar to Thalia being brought into the room. He looked just like Nymphadora, or rather, she looked like him, and then the vision faded.
I woke up, my face covered in blood from the failed attempts to see the objects origins. After I cleaned up, I ran inside the APC. I sat there with Not Juliet, looking at the maps, trying to figure out where to go. As my eyes gazed across the map, they fell on the Yucatan Peninsula and something in me knew that was it.
“There!” I said, slamming my finger down on the map. “That’s where we need to go! I know it is! That’s where the woman and Nymphadora’s parents are!” I hadn’t ment to have an outburst like that, but something in me just knew that’s where we had to go.
Wade rested a hand on my shoulder, “Calm down lover boy.” He didn’t seem to discount my intuition. Almost immediately we turned and made for Yucatan when Nux stopped us, carrying another fairy with a shard of glass imbedded through her. Nux was begging for us to save her but none of us could. Then Thalia walked over and took the fairy before activating one of her tattoos. I watched in amazement as a phoenix seemed to appear and engulfed the fairy. When the fires died away, the glass had turned to dust and the fairy was healed, and coming to her senses.
“You saved me! Oh thank you oh thank you oh thank you!” she squealed after realizing we weren’t Splugorth minions. She flew around all of us and that’s when I heard it. Nux offered her a place to stay with her, which the fairy agreed. I simply turned and began banging my head against the side of the APC, muttering, “Not another one…” over and over again.
We all got into the APC, and turned, finally having a destination and an idea about the entire mess we were about to get into….
