INTRODUCTION
SHADOW OF THE FLAMES takes place at the beginning, and will go during and through the end of WW2. Everything that HP LOVECRAFT and other writers of the CTHULHU mythos documented is considered true, but not common knowledge. As a matter of fact, it’s very hidden knowledge. The raid on INNSMOUTH was the beginning of the U.S. government’s dealings with the CTHULHU mythos, and of course, the British have the SEVERN VALLEY area as the center of their mythos troubles. Both governments keep an eye on any happenings of a similar nature, as well as a tight lip about any knowledge of incidents.
Secret cabals within world governments have even researched the impact of attempts to harness the power of the occult, but each time the sheer magnitude of the horrors outweighed any possible benefit. Nowadays, its about stopping anyone from using these arcane powers for evil purposes. The NAZIs are feared to be dabbling in these ancient and alien powers, and that those closest to HITLER are plotting to use those powers for world domination. That’s where SECTION D comes in.
