Tor Acarne sits on the Eastern coast of Darkfell. While the city does have some wealth it is generally regarded by anyone not in the Capitavirate and Salamonis’s poorer cousin. Since Salamonis overthrew Capitavirate rule and declared its independance the Capitavirate has attempted to promote trade with Tor Arcarne instead. However, a lack of tradeable goods, a less productive climate and regular raids from The Northern Tribes means this initiative is not having much success.
Tor Acarne is built on the ancient ruins of a long forgotten city and it still gives off an impression of a temporary settlement in the shadow of a greater past. This is party a result of the building materials used. Unlike Salamonis, Tor Acarne does not have any large sources of quarry-able stone meaning much of the city is built of wood and the streets of gravel and packed earth. The hard foundations of the previous city also seriously limit the construction of a sewer network. Regular attacks by the Northern Tribes also hinders expansion and cuts into any potential trade.
Tor Acarne remains a fairly poor frontier settlement, without the history and unifying civic spirit of Salamonis, however, it is still the Capitavirate’s only remaining foothold on Darkfell.
