As I arrived in Akai Taki no Machi I decide to test the local cuisine. I find a noodle shop and obtain a bowl, still trying to figure out the purpose of economic transactions I subtly pay the unsuspecting vendor for his service. As I leave I notice several Phoenix clan making their way towards me. The leader introduces himself and tells me that my presence was requested at the Cherry Manor. As we travel I ask why i was requested and am informed that apparently a Doji of the Crane clan visiting is an acquaintance of mine. I cannot seem to remember any Crane clan that i could call an “acquaintance” but I cannot disrespect my hosts.
I am introduced to the Crane visitors, one Doji Afuto and Asahina Shozu, and can’t remember either of them. My mind may be slipping in my years but I am also fairly sure I was slighted by the young Crane by not receiving a bow. Apparently Doji claims to have met me prior and after informing me that he would like to challenge me in a game of Go I start to feel that our meeting was less civil than they are making it sound. After soundly defeating Doji in Go the battle on the plains by the Castle Vigilance comes back to me. While I never met Doji on the field our armies and strategies had clashed and the outcome was much the same as our Go battle. Doji seems to be of the very few Crane I could stand to speak with.
The next section is written in a cryptic hand. The only words that can be made out are:
Note, Dokaru, Shinsei, Magic door, lost relic, order, Kolat, Bu, merchant.
The next day i spend wandering around the town and the manor grounds. I find the guard training grounds and decide to watch how these Phoenix train but after hearing one of the younger guard members slight myself and the Clan i take it upon myself to teach the “young Shiba” a lesson. Afterwards at the nightly meal i agree to help the Phoenix apprehend a suspected smuggler while I visit.
The next day i decide to pick up my souvenir and prepare to move on after my mission with the Phoenix is complete. I find a merchant selling petrified cherry branches and after purchasing one and wandering for a bit begin to wonder how I can be sure it is a cherry branch at all. I meet with the Phoenix guards, who I am to help apprehend the smuggler, and find them to be very bloodthirsty with a complete lack of planning. After searching the vessel owned by the smuggler we find he is not on board but should be returning shortly, and very drunkenly, thanks to a deck hand.
After apprehending Chosuto Jibu and beginning the trek back a very strange occurrence begins. The earth begins to shake and a crater forms under a nearby warehouse, bringing the warehouse crashing down. As the Phoenix, Isawa Tenshi, speeds away to bring aid I see a large movement of the ground itself heading to the northwest.
