A quick note since I have been so quiet lately.
First off, the subject of the post – Dig Town in Media
If you have watched the series Bones, in the first season there is an excellent example of what Dig Town would be like.
Episode 16 – The Woman in the Tunnel
There is an entire community living under the streets of DC. It also shows how convoluted the tunnel systems are. I will try and extract some images for Shadow Lives 2080.
Which brings me to my second point – the future of my shadowrun campaign.
Currently I am working through an 8 mission arc. I’ve told everyone about this already. Once that finishes, time passes. This will give me an excuse for a fresh, fifth edition, start.
Once that happens, I plan on having two parallel campaigns. The primary campaign will be a closed campaign. We will have a set group of 6 players and there won’t be random people coming and going each session. The secondary campaign will be a series of convention one shots. They will fit in the overall setting but not advance plot and people can come and go as they please.
But I don’t want to leave everyone in the lurch. I am looking into handing off the setting for a couple IC years. Alex has expressed an interest in running a campaign which would allow those of you who are hesitant to reset a chance to continue on. That is assuming the current arc doesn’t kill you off ;)
More detail will follow later. My schedule is really messed up from conventions, weather, and colds. I hope to post some fluff mission wrap ups this coming week. I still owe post session write ups for “Estate Sale” and “Beware the Auditors”.

Comments
So, after the current arc finishes, we’d need to roll up new characters for 5E, right? (“spiritual successors” notwithstanding)
Alex: Will your campaign stay 4E or start at 5? I know yours is still in the works, and I can’t speculate how much the new edition will change things.
Pretty sure Alex’s campaign will go outside the rules before 5 comes out. Well outside for everything but the core rules.
Oh nm didn’t read the post before commenting. I think alex needs to see the 5E rules before he makes that call, it will be up to him and the other players in his campaign. Also J.R. will you still be running the one-shots cause alex has very little interest in that, and I don’t think he will do it.
My convention missions will be play tested, but they’ll be using 5th edition once 5th edition comes out. I may be able to provide character conversion rules.
Hey all, figured I should prolly say something about this as well (even if it is a bit late). So, the campaign I am currently writing will use 4th ed. rules most likely (it will only use 5th if they reaaalllly impress me…as I would need to convert my current work). I hope to start it once the current arc is complete, and it will probably span…4-8 IC months, with the possibility of a sequel or two (depends on how canon develops). I won’t lie, there is a non-trivial chance that characters will die….the plot involves some dangerous folk. Plus, I can almost garuantee that characters that DO make it through will be changed by their experiences.
One thing I want to note is that this is a RP-heavy campaign. As such, I wouldn’t expect a mission to be completed every session. IC conversations about just about anything are not only ok, but are encouraged. Nor will all the campaign be divided into neat ’runs, a botched mission might result in several sessions of runners trying to clean up the drek.
