Star Wars: Another Longshot

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

One hundred and forty years after the Battle of Yavin, the galaxy lies in peril and in ruins.

The EMPIRE under the command of the SITH LORD, DARTH KRAYT, has consolidated his hold on the galaxy. His former ally EMPEROR ROAN FEL has been betrayed and is now on the run. The GALACTIC ALLIANCE is shattered, their remnants attempting to consolidate under the banner of ADMIRAL STAZI. The JEDI ORDER has been decimated and are on the run from BOUNTY HUNTERS trying to cash in on what the Empire offers for their heads.

In this dark time, new heroes rise from the ruins of the galaxy and band together to fight for change. To halt the encroaching darkness, and push back at the tyranny that has consumed the known galaxy.

Somewhere in the Outer Rim, those heroes will find a symbol from a earlier age, when the threats, and heroes, were very similar to the era they live in now…

Preface

“Another Longshot” is a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign that occurs predominantly within the far-flung Hagen Sector, a region of two-thousand stars and a frontier feel. The Sith Empire has taken control of the Galaxy. The Jedi are hunted, Emperor Fel’s forces are in exile, the Galactic Alliance are a shadow of their former glory, and those on the Fringe are just trying to survive under the Sith’s draconian gaze. The campaign will have a frontier feel, heavy on role playing interaction and high heroics, and dripping with Star Wars-flavored Awesomesauce.

Preludes and Preamble

Throught 2013 and into 2014, there will be several short adventures that occur before the campaign officially starts. Player characters in those games will be assigned by the GM and will not be allowed as PCs for the actual campaign. Events, objects, or characters from these games may make an apperance later on in the Another Longshot campaign.

Living on the Edge

Originally planned to be run in the “SAGA Edition” from Wizards of the Coast, the campaign will instead use the ruleset presented by Fantasy Flight Games in their forthcoming* “Edge of the Empire” core rulebook. Some changes and adaptation will need to be made depending on the character archetype a player wishes to play, especially any character that is a member of the Jedi Order or the Imperial Knights. Custom, home-brewed skill trees have been made for these classes, with the caveat given that the character may need to be rebuilt when the first Jedi book, “Force and Destiny”, is released by FFG in 2015.

A similar change may need to occur for anyone wishing to play members of the Armed Forces in the galaxy when “Age of Rebellion” is released in 2014, but odds are the campaign won’t start until after this book is released.

*- As of this date, 2/4/2013, the “Edge of the Empire” core rulebook is in Beta. Expected release 2nd Quarter, 2013.
