The party fought off three Dretch and a Runespiral Demon that had been lurking around the Barbed Hook. They used one of the ship’s ballistas to fire a line down into the icy chasm. Climbing down, they discovered a ledge in the chasm wall opening onto a tunnel that curved down and around to a chamber with a large rock formation in the center. They discovered two dead dragonborn lying in the ice and a third being devoured by a wounded Abyssal Eviscerator behind the rock pillar. They made short work of this demon as well as a Storm Shard that floated up the central shaft and began bombarding them with lightning bolts. Following some human and dragonborn tracks further down the tunnels, they came to a steep, icy slide. Lowering herself on a rope, Jennai discovered a large cavern hollowed out of the frozen muck of the harbor bottom. It contained a number of floating rocks spiraling down to a portal in the floor. Spanning the portal was a mass of twisted wood and metal that seemed to incorporate both the Anarch Disk and the demongate from the cultists’ ship. Standing atop the portal was Breven Foss.

The party took a much-needed night’s rest in Ronah’s in. They were introduced to a dwarf artificer named Berron Brasstooth who explained that the elemental apparatuses had been constructed in secret by a now-missing pupil of his. Rose received half of a matched pair of khopeshes from Aldus. Roaric received a hammer re-forged by Berron with the aid of some of the city’s shamans (who owed him a favor).
The party set out the next morning to investigate the situation in the harbor, which was still blanketed under icy fog which had engulfed several blocks of the surrounding neighborhoods as well. Passing through a checkpoint manned by both the City Watch and Dog Swords mercenaries, they detoured to a sailmaker’s shop and improvised some white canvas ponchos for camouflage in the mist. Soon after, they were beset by a pack of small but savage ice elementals who seemed to spontaneously form from the ice coating many of the buildings.
The open channel of water leading from the warehouse was now frozen but it was relatively easy to follow out to the center of the harbor. The party discovered the Arkhosian flagship as well as Vocilrot’s ship, the Barbed Hook frozen in the ice, with no sign of the captured prized but a large hole leading down into unknown depths beneath the frozen harbor.

After scaling the wall of the warehouse, the party was confronted by a force of fire cultists including another halberdier and firestarter. They were led by a young female firesoul genasi who wielded a vicious flaming longsword and nearly finished off the party singlehandedly.
The group was punished severely and Roaric nearly slain, but they managed to eke out a victory. Jennai completed her quest by killing the genasi, who was the third of the cult members responsible for burning the sacred grove back at Midsummer. Her spear became a +1 Alfsair Spear and Vocilrot claimed the +1 Flaming Longsword of the genasi. There was some gold and a couple of healing potions found as well.
Upon investigating the warehouse and dock, the party discovered an strange elemental refrigeration apparatus built around a metal disc similar to the one on the boiler under the inn. Nearby was the bound and unconscious Valis Koborn, the admiral’s nephew. They also met a man named Breven Foss who revealed that he had been the true patron of the fire cult, and that he was now determined to steal the demon cult’s ship that Vocilrot had helped capture a few days earlier. After trading some witty banter he magically commanded the refrigeration pipes in the warehouse to freeze the harbor solid, then animated the apparatus itself into a construct of iron and elemental frost, which stomped out of the warehouse to attack.
Being badly injured and nearly out of healing surges the party elected to grab the admiral’s nephew and flee into the city. Foss used a conjured wind to propel his small ship out along a narrow channel of open water towards the two Arkhosian navy ships and their captured prize. The elemental construct began hurling large chunks of ice at the two ships to cover Foss’ approach. As the party fled an unnatural, icy fog began to blanket the harbor, so they had no idea whether Foss was able to steal the ship or not.

Our heroes tracked the fleeing cultists and their hostages through the sewers of Tiramon, running across some goblin spies along the way. Once out in the open again, they faced down a gang of Kenku in a quick back alley brawl and bribed the gang leader to lead them to the suspicious warehouse.

Our heroes met Aldus and his associates, and received a provisional commission as agents of Peregrine Branch. Returning to the Quarter Share Inn, they ventured into the cellars. They used the Black Iron Key to open a secret door, apparently of Dwarvish design, and discovered a secret annex to the cellar, full of fire cultists frantically working to break down their operation.
In which our heroes meet, both in dreams and in the world

The first session of the campaign kicked off with a short dream sequence vignette, then threw the characters together in the waking world during a violent confrontation in an inn overrun with fire cultists. Though battered, the PCs quickly began working together to defeat the cultists and capture their ringleader, Sheora the Fire Dancer. Repairing to a friendly inn, they began piecing together as much information as they could about the situation. A grizzled stranger interposed himself, claiming to work for an organization that could help the PCs in their next move against the cult.
