The City of Great Forks is one of the founding city-states of the Confederacy of Rivers. It is ruled by a group of gods known as the Three. They are a war-goddes namedShield of a Different Day, called Dayshield, a travel god named Spinner of Glorious Tales (or simply Talespinner), and a mysterious goddess named Weaver of Dreams of Victory, or Dreamweaver.

Great Forks is a cosmopolitan hub of learning and art, with unprecedented mingling of gods, elementals and mortals. Most citizens have at least some supernatural blood in them, with God-Blooded making up a significant protion of their military. There is slavery in Great Forks, though slaves do have some rights, including the ability to earn money, and eventually buy their freedom.
