Overview:
Primarily academic research into the nature of magic and how it interacts with physical objects with particular emphasis on moonstones.
Discoveries:
Developed a method for channeling magic into moonstones as a substitute for powdered moonstone.
Developed a method for using powdered moonstone to power spells. The mage must still use one of their own spell slots to provide at least one of the spell levels necessary to cast the spell, but moonstone powder can be used to bridge the gap between the spell slot used and the spell’s level. 4 ounces (5 gold worth) of moonstone powder is required to replace one spell level.
Discovered that the magical properties of moonstones are due to specific, randomly occurring crystalline structures within the moonstone. Furthermore, discovered how to magically reshape the moonstone to maximize the number of crystalline structures. On average, reshaping a moonstone properly results in an increase in levitating power of several orders of magnitude.
