Arcanite
Arcanite is a brittle opaque crystal of varying colour. First discovered by Magnus Guern, its strange properties were not immediately known, or understood. Arcanite has since been found to draw arcane energy from its surroundings and as a result can inhibit the effect of arcane magic. Arcanite is often found in long lush veins deep below, often reaching far up into the surface. Arcanite has also been discovered in smaller, round deposites nearer to the surface. Alchemists have long suspected that Arcanite forms along natural energy lines in the earth, feeding on it it. Others hypothesise that Arcanite is simply a dense form of arcane energy itself.
