As of the time that I started this blog our group is about half way through the “Keep on the Shadowfell” encounter. We typically run what ever encounter WotC puts out but the store did not turn in paper work for this encounter so we decided to run KotSF because a group member had the packet for it.

Today we started in the entrance of Shadowfell Keep having just dispached several guards and removing the rats from a pit just inside the entrance (because no one likes rats). After flipping a coin to determine which way to procede, as all three of our choices seemed equally apt to provide an encounter, we settled on a coridor that led us past a set of heavy iron doors and into a torture chamber. In the chamber we stumbled upon several goblins and a hob-goblin torturing another goblin. Since we were not stealthy there was no suprise attack and all were thrown immedatly into combat. My Invoker Alea stepped first into the room and let loose a divine lightining bolt that struck the hob-goblin for substantial damage and also lowered his defenses. Next our melee party members moved in and closed ranks with the enemies providing cover for the remaining casters to set up and begin lobbing spells. After a few minutes of slashing and magic flinging we managed to dispatch the torturers with little difficulty.

Brief looting provided us with 50 gold pieces and the hob-goblin’s armor which posessed the power to defelct damage from incomming attacks for a short time.

Lastly the goblin that was being tortured remained alive and after some brief questioning we learned that the leader of the goblins lived back down the hall we had just come and through the iron doors. Our warden decided to break the chain holding the goblin to the wall but left in place the coller and chain around its neck. The cleric is now incharge of our convient guard.
