Across the street from the Arctic Club, the heeby jeebies gathered as a good-old-fashioned Seattle Riot built and came up the street. The Party watched as the rioters came to Arctic Club and broke down the front door, its sanctuary broken by the force of Mortal Will and a torrent of human emotion. Then Power came into the area. A sick power that informed the Wizards the truth, that Time was Malleable, that The Future Isn’t Set, that Almost Anything Could Happen.

The Party used the rioters as cover, blending in easily…except for Osamu. Osamu’s Radiant Aura attracted the attention of the crowd, who saw him as just another Asian migrant worker who was taking their jobs.

Jack, Zeb, and Woof followed the rioters in as they wrecked the high class Arctic Club. Even the club’s Faerie staff were no match for the power of Mortal Rioters with Cold Iron in their hands. When they came to the main ballroom, they saw Old Montague who was holding off the crowd as the Doorman opened the Way into his demenese for the only apparent party guests, The Montague Family. Apparently, Old Monty got stood up at his own wedding. Ouch…

As the Montague Family piled into the trap, a Glamour went up showing a illusary Old Monty going into the Demense as the Way closed. Several Rioters stood out of the crowd as they surrounded Monty to keep him alive.

Zeb leapt atop of the Wedding Cake (Which had a girl to jump out of it, but it didn’t work out) and used his empathy to spur the Crowd to a fever pitch as Woof took a pot-shot at Montague. Monty started using his Power of Despair to break up the crowd…

Even with his martial arts skills, the crowd was too big for Osamu overcome initially. But Leif played Dr. Hero and stayed behind to help is friend. Leif rode his Motorcycle around in a full-speed spin, breaking up the crowd with the power of Motorcycle.

Freed of the Crowd, Osamu ran into the club with a jump kick into Old Montague himself as Woof took a potshot, nailing the Vampire. The pair fought, experience and inhuman strength matched blow for blow. Leif then lent a hand by throwing a spear into Old Montague’s leg, pinning him to the floor of the Arctic. As more Glamours went up and Mr. Nobody’s minions tried to extract Old Montague, Jack Youngblood thwarted the minion’s efforts by hitting the White Court Lord with an unbelieveable amount of force. The Glamours disappated as the body of Old Montague bled out in front of the angry rioters, an event that hadn’t happened in the original timeline…

Their mission failed, Mr. N’s Prosthanos Goons and the Red Court Infected left over from the raid on Mr. N’s apartment decided to shoot at the only important person left, Zeb atop the cake. Zeb managed to dodge the Bullets and grab the the chandelier. He used Fire Magic to incinerate a goon as the others tried to shoot him with Lewis Guns.

The gunfire caused the remaining Rioters to run for their lives and out of harm’s way…

One of the Infected decided to shoot the Doorman in an effort to collapse the Demense and get the Venatori inside lost in the Nevernever.

Then a Bolt of Cold Magic hit Zeb from behind. Fitzgerald Kennedy had thrown it from the front door.

Leif ran to the Doorman to save his life as Jack forced the Way to stay open. Leif’s Motorcycle moved on its own to run down Fitzgerald as everyone in the room fought each other.

Being surrounded by enemies on his Matron’s turf, Woof called Lady Odiana for aid. Moments later a team of Ogres led by a slightly younger Mr. Squire.

Jack and Zeb then decided they had had it with the Warlock. Zeb covered himself in Fiery wings stronger than he’d ever done before. Jack threw his Father’s Sword to his Father’s spirit, using the Spirit Power infused in it to physically Manifest. John Youngblood Jr. relished the opportunity to be a part of justice again and struck Fitzgerald with a mighty blow from a Warden’s Sword. Fitzgerald vanished under a veil, but the Ghost saw through it and slashed the Warlock to his knees as Zeb ran at him in a fury, his sword swinging.

In that moment, Young Zeb Einar almost died. He approached Fiztgerald, ready to give summary judgement in a decapitation that the Warlock seemed to invite. But, the Young Warden remembered the Soulgaze. Zeb remembered what this man came back in time to do and the kind of power he commanded. He realized that Fitzgerald would use his Death Curse to damage Zeb across time…

So, Zeb knocked him unconscious instead, foiling the plan at the last moment and preserving the Timeline…

The Ogres overcame the minions that were left. Lady Odiana of Winter then appeared, disgusted at being summoned and at the damage done to her club by Mortals. She looked at Woof and saw his request for aid as a slight against her. She said to him that she would remember this transgression…

Behind Odiana came Fern Frost, one of the most beautiful women in the world. She looked at Zeb and the pair were attracted to each other immediately, especially given Zeb’s envelope of Fire. She mentioned that she had heard tales of a new Warden in town and was happy to meet him in person. Looking at Zeb’s Fire, not speaking English very well and looking a little tipsy, she remarked to Zeb, “Aren’t you a little Magma Kraken…”

The Wizard replied by making a small piece of jewelry out of Earth and promised to meet up with her for a proper introduction once the business at hand was completed.

Lady Odiana thanked the group for their efforts, but asked them to get the hell out of her club. The party picked up the unconscious Warlock and ran like hell…

That evening, the party stood in front of the Youngblood Estate and thanked Zeb for the help. As the Sun rose, the party faded back through the timestream back to The Present…

ROMEO MUST NOT DIE!

As the police drove in to investigate the fight that led to the death of Mr. Nobody, the party carried the unconscious body of Dr. Kokanos away from the scene. The thunderstorm brewing above them was no motivator for the party… They went to Marty’s, a local bar owned and operated by Martin Montgomery aka Mercutio Montague. The Oldest White Court Virgin on the Planet as well as his brother & business partner Romeo collectively had a reputation as a pair of genuine War Heroes and for both being so good with automatic weapons that they could their names in bullets…

As the party entered the bar, Young Zeb asked for the use of the backroom and Mercutio obliged. They took the unconscious doctor into the back.
Ec com100
In the backroom, Dr. Kokanos awoke to a pair of Wardens standing over his tied up body sharpening their Wardens’ Swords. Kokanos pleaded for his life, offering all the information he had in exchange for standing trial in the present. The Wardens continued to sharpen their swords…waiting for information worth their time. Kokanos spilled everything he knew:

  1. Kokanos had a professional business relationship with Mr. N. He had no part in the Ritual, he was merely Mr. Nobody’s personal physician, a relationship established by contract and sanctioned by the Accords. He did not sign up for the Chronomancy and did not sanction it, but was bound by obligation to go along. But, with Mr. Nobody dead their contract was now void.
  2. Kokanos had presented a number of options to repair Mr. N’s body but Mr. N chose the final “Shopping list”. The Party isn’t letting Kokanos off the hook for that…
  3. Fitzgerald Kennedy was the architect of the whole plan, Mr. Nobody merely culled the pieces together and Trey Wellington contributed the last needed bit of Power and connections. Being a former Stockbroker Mr. nobody had an advanced knowledge of debt and how to get what was needed. Kennedy was a lauded Football Coach (Known for his sneak plays) and teacher of Current affairs, from that experience Fitzgerald concocted the plan to compartmentalize information so that one person being captured couldn’t take down the entire plan. However, Mr. N still kept some notes regarding the ritual they used back at the apartment.
  4. Fitzgerald’s motive was already known.Trey Wellington had come back to destroy the Youngblood Family. However, with Wellington’s death, his goons renegotiated with Mr. N to take part in the main plan…
  5. In order to get the resources to get the Ritual to work in a short amount of time, Mr. N called in every favor he had and ended up needing to pay off some debts while back in time. To do so, his henchman would use the old, “Put letters in the mail” trick by sending goons through the nevernever to required destinations. If the letters arrived at their destinations during the upcoming window during the Riot, the changes were more likely to take.
$ In less than 24 hours, a Venatori hitsquad manipulated by the Mercers will kill the entire Montague Family with the exception of the youngest son, Romeo. From this tragedy Romeo would rebuild his family empire and drive the Mercers out of Seattle. Mr. N’s primary objective back in the past was to save the life of The Lord Montague of 1934 and to kill his son Romeo, preventing him from ever taking power. The Lord Montague of 1934 had a reputation as being a Monster. Rumor had it Montague engineered the Longshoreman strike to short-sell the stocks and was half a century away from being a contender to be the next White King… but Kokanos had no idea how the hell the Venatori were going to do it since The Arctic Club was Accorded Neutral Ground. He only knew that involved the riots somehow and that some of Mr. N’s minions were sent to find someone called, “The Doorman”

These revelations frustrated Jack Youngblood so he went for a drink at the bar…

Leif walked up to the Bartender and took a look at the bartender with his Fate Sight…

Leif saw the same myriad of possible futures he had been seeing since he had gotten back in time, like the Fates couldn’t make up their damn minds. Leif saw the future he knew to be most likely, Mercutio laying dead in a pool of his own blood with Ryan Delmont standing over him…

Leif saw another possibility where time catches up with the White Court Virgin. A possibility that could only come if the Virgin had his Hunger killed by feeling True Hope… He also saw another possibility of an older Mercutio in the 2000’s (uncannily resembling the Lord Montague of the present) with Bill Gates kissing his hand…

Leif decided to buy the man a drink… Zeb decided to warn his old friend to not go to the Wedding tomorrow. Despite being surprised that he even knew about the wedding, Mercutio decided to trust his old friend who didn’t want to tell him anything more than ""stay away"…His brother Romeo on the other hand decided then to stumble drunk into the bar.

Leif decided to look upon Romeo with his Fate Sight and saw something that surprised him. Romeo had similar possible fates to his brother.

_ Leif saw Romeo’s Fate of standing over his brother’s body… of this leading to his empire… Leif also another possible future of Romeo lying dead in the street, Ryan standing over him._

But, Leif also saw another possible fate of Romeo lying int he street, shriviling like an old man just like Mercutio. But that was impossible since Romeo was definitely a true White Court Vampire. However, Leif did also see a Red Stand of Fate woven into Romeo’s….the same kind woven by The Dragon Lady.

Romeo reacted to the warning of the Wedding the same way his brother did, but Romeo didn’t believe the Warden. The party was asked to leave and Zeb was forced to hope his friends made the right choice…

With the information from Kokanos, the party decided to deal with the other problem on their plate…The Balance. When the Time Travel Ritual went off in the present, The Balance was drained of power. If they didn’t do something to fix The Balance, the power drain would cause as much metaphysical damage to Seattle as the quake did physically. The made their way back to Mr. Nobody’s Apartment and Osamu used his skills to sneak past the cops investigating the scene and steal Mr. Nobody’s notes on the ritual.

Getting impatient with all this Time Travel bullshit, Jack Youngblood used a spirit-driven Divination ritual to sift through the pile of papers and get some answers. The spirits revealed that the Balance could be repaired in a number of ways… none of them easily done without great consequence. But together the party theorized another possible solution. One that involved visiting The Dragon Lady…
Ec com101
Zeb made some calls and bribed a Mailman to stop some of Mr. N’s letters. Leif thought that in the future, they could have a computer guy (Ryan coming to mind) to look up the records of the letters sent by Mr. n’s henchmen and then putting that information in the dufflebag. Inside the dufflebag there it was… but two letters were marked by Leif himself as “Don’t touch”.

In 1934, The Dragon Lady worked out of a tailor’s shop in the center of Chinatown. Osamu, Leif, Ryan and Jack approached the Crone, who stood behind the counter in her Young Woman guise. No speaking much English in this time, Osamu translated as Jack informed her of the situation with The Balance’s design. Even though they kept the nature of Time Travel to themselves, the Fate Weaver looked upon the party’s fate and laughed….particualrly at Ryan…

Jack proposed to her that she put in a failsafe system that would gather energy from Earthquakes that will hit Seattle in the future(even though there’s no telling when or where one would hit…) . In exchange for this information, The Dragon Lady agreed to forgive a later slight from Jack. Osamu suggested that she keep the information to herself and take credit for the improvement if the situation should ever come up. In exchange, the Dragon Lady owed Osamu a favor. Despite her many offers, Ryan declined saying, “I owe too much already…”
Leif on the other hand couldn’t resist his current situation and offered the Dragon Lady to go on a date with him. She accepted… Leif reappeared the next morning and said that “A Gentleman never tells…”

Going off what little information they had on the Montague assassination, Osamu tracked down and followed The Doorman, a Changling of Odiana’s in charge of opening Ways into the Nevernever. His shadowing paid off when he saw Mr. N’s goons inject a syringe of Blue Magic, the Thrall-creating drug Mr. N was peddling. The thrall opened a Way to his own Demense and into it poured in the Venatori Strike Team. The mysterious strategy of the next day suddenly made sense: The Venatori would lie in wait inside the Demense. When the riot spilled reached the Arctic Club, the Monatuges would go into a Way opened by The Doorman and into the waiting firing squad…

At 8:00 am, 4 hours before the Riot would reach the Arctic Club, Zeb called Marty’s to find check in with Mercutio. Mercutio trusted his friend, but Romeo decided to go to warn his Family. Lord Montague may have been a monster, but he was still Romeo’s Father…

Osamu ran ahead of the Party and intercepted Romeo’s car. Osamu ran backwards, flagging down the Incubus Mafioso…Romeo responded by firing his Tommygun at Osamu one-handed. Osamu barely dodged the Bullets he was weak to and responded by taking the front axle off the car with a single punch. Romeo fired at him, but Osamu’s superior Acrobatics allowed him to distract Romeo. Osamu further caught Romeo’s attention by breaking his Tommygun and running away as Romeo shot at him with a pistol. When the rest of the party arrived, Jack caught Romeo in his Shackle Spell so that Zeb could get him to listen to reason. Romeo swore then that Osamu owed him a debt and swore at his friend’s extreme methods. Ryan Delmont then lost it and grabbed Romeo by the face and infused him with fear. He demanded Romeo to walk the other way and to not look back until he got back to the bar. He then threw Romeo down the street. Romeo started walking until a picketer whose sign had caught his bullets earlier recognized him started yelling at him. Romeo destroyed the sign with a precision shot and in turn forced the Picketer to run back towards the gathering mob.

The tension in the air started to build as the Riot started to build up…

The party went to the Arctic Club and Ryan’s Fear made the man in front asking for invitations remember that he was sick today… Under a veil the party entered the Arctic Club and found The Doorman. Dragging him to the back, Ryan did the same thing to him and forced the Doorman to open the Way to his Demense. Osamu walked inside and found the head of the Strike Team, Reginald Parker I. Osamu informed him about Mr. N’s goons and emphasized to make sure that Lord Montague must not leave alive…

Leaving the Demense, all the party could do was wait until the Riot started…

NOBODY DIED

When Mathew “Woof” Riley woke up that morning, he had not anticipated a day of running around, shooting Wolf Faeries with his sniper rifle, blowing the biggest, baddest one to kingdom come, getting handed a set of clothes from the 1930’s and then getting caught in a Time Travel Spell. That hadn’t been his plan at all.

Woof arrived in 1934 in an indoor swimming pool. The decor immediately said “Rich” and “Winter Fae” and the towel he used to dry himself off marked the place as The Arctic Club. Lady Odiana had mentioned to him that the club had once been Odiana’s domain in Seattle until a terrible event had sullied it’s reputation and gotten it bought out by mortals. The Lady of Winter was still not happy about that. Ec com98

Woof hid at the sound of voices and overheard a conversation between a pair of Odiana’s handmaidens. They spoke of a wedding taking place in 2 days and that the patron was Lord Montague. Woof took this new information in stride and snuck out of the club like a pro, leaving nothing to chance.

He used the 1930’s currency his disguise offered him and took a cab to Zeb’s house…which turned out to be an empty lot. He then went to the Youngblood residence and waited outside until he again met up with his friends who had John Youngblood, Sr safely home. Woof had a bit of a shock when he say young Zeb, but decided to go off with the others to the side as Zeb went gumshoeing.

Zeb looked over the list of parts that Mr. Nobody was looking for and focused on the Hands of a Holy Man. He thought of Father O’Malley, a Local priest and True Believer in the divine. When he called the church he got an answer from a startled priest telling him that Father O’Malley had just been attacked and his hands had been cut off. When Zeb told Lief about this, Leif remembered his own research on True Believers that described a priest of the local area who had had Hooks for hands… This confirmed for them that some of what they do in the past was meant to happen, that not all of history can or will be changed necessarily.

As Zeb drove to check on his friend at the Hospital the group of Time travelers gathered and discussed the current state of things. They deduced from Woof’s information that Mr. Nobody’s intended target for the time travel was the upcoming Montague Wedding. According to history, this wedding is where the entire Montague Family is wiped with the exception of the youngest son Romeo. Romeo, who becomes the new Lord Montague, rebuilds the family empire and drives the Mercers out of the City until the present. The party decided to let the mass assassination occur as history requires especially since Romeo’s father, 1934’s Lord Montague, was your standard White Court Noble who was probably had a hand in the Longshoreman Strike currently going on.

Zeb returned with a sample of blood from the priest and used a tracking spell to find the location of Mr. Nobody via the arms he had stolen. The spell led them to one of the more expensive apartments in downtown Seattle, a few blocks from The Arctic Club. The party approached the building from multiple angles; Osamu and Ryan up the fire escape, Zeb and Woof through the back and Jack and Leif through the front. Leif decided to guard the front of the building in case anyone ran out that way. As soon as they reached the 4th floor the Wizards detected a Warning Ward, but managed to disarm it. They then continued to the apartment door the Tracking Spell ended at.

Jack knocked on the door and covered up the peep hole.

“Who is it?” The voice behind the door asked before a barely audible highpitched whistle rang out.

“Salvation Army!” Jack said as Ryan kicked down the door with his mighty strength.

Behind the door stood Doctor Kokanos, the Prosthanos physician who had rebuilt Mr N. Kokanos’ hands had been designed for surgery, various tools and blades built into enlongated fingers. Behind Kokanos was the thing that was now Mr. Nobody, who moved with unnatural grace and speed. Mr. N looked the party, stuck his tongue out, sprouted wings out of his back and flew out of the window with his doctor.Ec com99

Out of another apartment down the hall appeared Trevor Radcliffe’s Red Court Infected hit team with the guns they had gotten from Mullenix Firearms. Two of them raised their Lewis Guns one-handed and fired at the two wizards. Jack took a round and Zeb barely dodged as Woof returned fire with his Glock and Ryan rushed forward. Ryan engaged them as another pair of infected ran out into the hall with a damn Bazooka. Ryan then motioned to Jack and ran around the corner. As Ryan threw the Bazooka wielding infected into the hall behind him, Jack used his Laser spell to burn the Infected to a crisp and set off the Rocket. The rest of them retreated out the window, with Ryan chasing the last one down an elevator shaft and crushing him with blows from his Kali Sticks that also decapitated the monster. At the moment of death, the Infected’s body disappeared… Easy clean up…

Osamu leaped out of the window and persued Mr. Nobody and Dr. Kokanos onto a nearby rooftop. Kokanos pulled away but Osamu used his martial arts strikes, kicks and holds to trap Mr. Nobody in place. Zeb used magic to sprout Wings of flame and pursued Kokanos through the air, striking hima nd forcing him to retreat back to his patient.

Jack then blasted Mr. N with his trademark Laser and because of the Ogre Skin the Magic slid right off him. Jack was not pleased… But Zeb had seen it and flew towards with his new Warden’s Sword. The future Magma Kracken skewered Mr. Nobody like an Archangel sent from Heaven to smite this unholy monster.

Meanwhile, Leif the Doctor Hero got the Bellhop out to safety and used a quick tracking spell to find out where his friends were. He then jumped onto his mighty steed and drove like hell UP the fire escape. He reached the roof at the same time Woof did, who started taking shots at Mr. Nobody who was not liking what the Warden’s Sword had done to his stiching. The monster veiled and escaped from sight…

…But the ex-Navy SEAL was on a mission and he wasn’t going to let him get away. He fired a shot from his Glock blindly and it found its mark through Mr. Nobody’s Skull. Mr. Nobody dropped to the roof and tried to walk away. With every step he became more unstitched, the grafts holding him together failing. Then he couldn’t walk anymore.

“Motherfuckers…” Mr. Nobody said as he died and dissolved.

Osamu knocked out Dr. Kokanos with a few strikes and the party fled from the scene as the police finally arrived. With Dr. Kokanos in their custody the party were now free to interrogate him for the remaining pieces of Mr. Nobody’s agenda. 2 of the Infected had survived, but Mr. Nobody had come back in time with four goons of his own including the two whose wings had been clipped the previous night. What was their game now? Why weren’t they at the Apartment with their master?

They could also find out just what Opportunity had made Mr. Nobody travel to 1934 so he could exploit it…

GLITTER DEMONS

GM: Bradford(Lanodantheon)

February 10, 2013

In the basement of the Youngblood Estate Jack Youngblood, Zeke Einar, Ryan Delmont and Leif Wotenson had Chronomancer Fitzgerald Kennedy dead-to-writes inside of the Magic Circle built into the floor with all of his magical tools taken away. As Zeke left the room to protect himself from learning too much, Fitzgerald yelled at him to try to get Zeke to take action. He yelled at Zeke that he could save Karolynn by making a choice. Zeke had no comment as Osamu pushed him upstairs.

Before Fitzgerald’s mandatory execution for breaking the Laws of Magic, Leif decided to cast a Truth-Compelling Spell courtesy of his non-Mortal Magic so they could get some answers. The party grilled Fitzgerald for a while, getting his True Name and confirmed several facts for the party:

1. Fitzgerald’s only goal in the next few days was to save his daughter. Everything else be damned. He believed himself to have been blessed with Chronomancy by God and that his mission was to right the ways of existence. In other words, Fitzgerald was totally whacked. Beyond redemption Sword bait. Ec com97

2. Fitzgerald admitted that if he escaped he would go to the predesignated point near the Arctic Club in two days and cast a spell that would further destabilize the Time Stream. For a short window during the Bloody Thursday Riot the ability to alter the flow of Time would be increased. During that window, Fitzgerald would do anything his power to persuade Zeb to save his Daughter in the future and if that didn’t work he would kill him. After three sunrises the spell would end and take them back to the present more or less.

3. Contrary to previous schemes from Mr. Nobody, Fitzgerald had thought this time-travel plan all the way through which is why the time travelers had such precise itineraries. Mr. N had recruited Fitzgerald shortly after Karolynn’s funeral when he discovered his own power and had been grooming him when his empire was dismantled. Because of this and Fitzgerald’s experience as a Professor and a Coach, Fitzgerald convinced the others to segment their plans and tightly control information about each other’s roles and motives in the scheme. That way if one person was captured they wouldn’t be able to give away the whole scheme.

4. Trey Wellington had come back to spite the Youngblood Family, but other than that Fitzgerald knew nothing about what exactly his henchmen were going to do because of their strategy.

5. Mr. N’s motives for the spell were also a mystery to Fitzgerald because of their strategy. However, he indicated that to get the Ritual off the ground in a short amount of Time Mr. N had called in every favor he had and had wracked up a debt from a big sponsor. While he was back in 1934, Mr. Nobody would be paying off his debt in some fashion.

6. Fitzgerald confirmed the numbers of the Time Travelers: Mr. Nobody, his Physician Dr. Kokanos, 6 henchmen, Trey Wellington, 6 of his henchmen and himself. Mr. N and the others were supposed to rendezvous that night and then again on Day 3 for the main event at the Arctic Club.
Ec com95
All the while, both Leif and Ryan seemed attracted to Fitzgerald’s ideas to mess with time, but Jack stood stalwart. In one last arguments over his motives, Jack tried to talk down the Chronomancer. But, the Warden realized he was lost and swung his Warden’s Sword in a Coup de Grace. But, Fitzgerald had though his plan all the way through and consumed a fake tooth and vanished into Time. Jack estimated that Fitzgerald may be able to reappear but without any of his tools.

Meanwhile, on the roof Osamu kept watch. When a car parked in the driveway, Osamu dropped in to stop them. The car it turned out belonged to John Youngblood, Sr (Known for now as Senior) who had just returned home from bailing his deliquent Teenage son from the local jail for drunk and disorderly…again. Osamu’s greeting almost met with decapitation from the Warden’s Cavalry Saber but Osamu managed to get the Wizard to listen to reason. He gave Senior Youngblood the code Old Zeb have given them and soulgazed him as a sign of trust.

Osamu Saw a japanese painting in motion. The Youngblood legacy born in the blood of cousins during the American Civil War. He Saw Senior Youngblood leaving behind the trail of blood for a new life in a new state.

The Soulgaze worked and Senior did as instructed keeping himself out of the basement and talked to Zeke about what the hell was going on. Senior told his apprentice that he was going out for a drink and that when he got back that the people in the basement would be gone. Senior left, but Teenage Junior stumbled drunk down the stairs. Baring the family’s ghost sight he saw the Spirit of his older self standing before him. He waved. Ghost Dad waved back. Then Junior tottered back upstairs to sleep off his hangover and the “Good party”.

Osamu regrouped with the others and they decided to Gumshoe around for some answers. The Arctic Club as it turned out was not only a high-end nightclub downtown owned by various supernatural powers in the city but was designated as Accorded Neutral Territory. Whatever was happening there the day after tomorrow would be big.

The party followed reports from Zeke’s friends and the ghosts around town to find where Mr. Nobody and his goons appeared in the past and then apparently took wing and fly away towards Hooverville. In Hooverville, they found the homebase Osamu had discovered empty by only a few minutes. They found files that had been left behind by goons indicating John Senior was a Target and that they still needed the Eyes of a Wizard for Mr. N’s new body.

The party jumped into Zeke’s car and drove like a bat out of hell at 40mph. Leif hauled even more ass on his bike, Jack riding on back as they pulled up to the Cauldron, John Senior’s favorite drinking hole. The humor of saying “Come with me if you want to live” was lost in the direness of the situation as they tried to convince John Senior to run like hell. Then two invisible foes snatched him off the ground and knocked the Warden out in a single blow…

The Winged Goons had Glamours and powerful ones. But Jack had Air Magic and almost lost control of a mighty spell but grounded their asses. Leif pulled a fire extinguisher out of the Duffle bag he had prepared before travelling back in time and sprayed the veiled demons with glitter. The winged Glitter Demons ran like hell down the street to try to out run two guys on a motorcycle. Leif threw a spear at the one carrying Senior, forcing him to drop the hostage. Jack acted quickly and put his Grandfather into a Force Bubble to protect him from the Prosthanos Thugs.

As the rest of the party arrived in Zeke’s car, the Prothanos Glitter Demons decided then to change tactics. They used their Glamours to turn themselves into Little old Ladies in the middle of the night crowds, put the illusion of guns in the hands of their opponents and called for the police. Osamu tried to press the attack, but the demons dodged his martial arts. One of them punched Leif’s bike, causing the 1934 Indian to limp like the horse it was.Ec com96

The Police arrived and pointed their machineguns at the men obviously carrying guns and punching little old ladies with them. Then Leif put his power into one big Counterspell, undoing the Veil. The police saw the Giltter demons and pumped them full of lead. The Prothanos thugs managed to fly away but not before getting their wings permanently clipped by machinegun fire.

They got John Senior up off the ground and drove him home. Having just taken a blow to the head it is doubtful he saw the faces of the Ghost that looked like an older version of his no good son or the face of Jack who stayed as far away from his ancestor s possible as they drove him back home. Behind them, fate it seemed was on their side as Leif had managed to convince the night crowd that they were the heroes…

A CRACK OF THUNDER

January 27, 2013

Just as things went white Zeb, who stayed behind to handle what he could of the ritual, shouted a number and the words, “Find me at the bank…”

Then there was a crack of thunder…

Then the Party Landed in water. They found themselves in the Bath House of the Panama Hotel. Being linked to his Warden’s Sword, Jack’s Father’s ghost stood dumbstruck at the calender on the wall, which said it was July 2nd, 1934. The Bath House had been closed since 1950 because of The Stain of The 6th Law…three guesses what caused that and the first two don’t count.

The party put their heads together, trying like hell to figure out their situation…

Ryan’s History of Seattle class back in college paid off its elective credit with information about the era. July of ’34 was a time when FDR was President with a 62% approval rating, unemployment was pushing 25%, The Third Reich was taking shape in Germany and Racism was the norm. The entire West Coast was consumed by the Longshoreman Strike, causing breakdowns of imports and business. In two days it would be Bloody Tuesday, the day when when the Longshoreman Riots consumed the Seattle Docks and surrounding areas…

They came to the conclusion that they would try like hell to not meddle in the timeline. Leif figured that the Duffle Bag he had received months before was part of a Bill & Ted Setup engineered by themselves or an alternate version of themselves based on the state of quantum physics. Anything they took out of the Duffle bag they’’d have to put in by the time they got back to the present. The potions they took seemed to be part of the ritual, but without resources they didn’t know anything about how Time Travel worked through Magic, how long they would stay in the past or exactly what Mr. Nobody, Trey Wellington and Fitzgerald Kennedy were doing there exactly. All they could do was follow Zeb’s instructions to find him at the bank.

The Ghosts of the area started to take a liking to Jack and the ghost of a drowned bath house patron commented that she had seen another man fall into the bath house before they did. After she described him Jack realized it was Fitzgerald. Osamu investigated and managed to pick Fitzgerald out of the crowd and followed him, agreeing to regroup with the others at Zeb’s House. Ec com92Osamu followed Fitzgerald to the University of Washington Fountain, where a group of Trey Wellington’s minions fell into existence in a crack of thunder. The minions waved pistols around at the few faculty and students still around and Fitzgerald inspected the fountain with his Pocket Watch. Fitzgerald told the minions, who were itching for the shooting of people to “stick to the plan precisely. You can’t shoot anyone here until it’s time… your Boss is due in an hour. Go.” Osamu followed the Minions to a shady Gun Shop near Chinatown called, “The Frog’s”. To gather information, he decided to talk to a boy out front who was smoking a cigarette(like everyone was back then) and who had a nasty shiner.

Osamu’s Radiant Aura and friendly manner gave him the boy’s respect, even if the boy greeted him with, “Nihao.” The boy, Etienne wishing his name was John, it seemed had been beaten by his father for mispronouncing the family name because it wasn’t very American. After a demonstration of his martial arts prowess, Osamu taught Etienne to stand up for himself and convinced him to learn martial arts at one of the local dojos and to take pride in the fact that he was both French and American. Etienne thanked him and promised that the Mullinexes would always be a friend to the Japanese… Awkward…

Meanwhile, Jack and the others went to the bank they had seen in the photo of Zeb. Under a veil they watched a group of bank robbers go in, rob a bank and drive away. Just then, The Newly Minted Warden Zeke Einar hexed the car’s engine into flames and crossed the street as an opportunistic photographer caught him in the picture…

Lief looked upon Young Zeb with his fate sight and saw the young man’s Strands of Fate diverge. He saw a dozen possible futures, from Zeb dying in 2 days to machine guns to Zeb giving up his Magic to Zeb dying like he was supposed to die at Kemmler’s Last Stand…but didn’t.

Jack stepped out from the veil and approached Young Zeb, asking him to talk somewhere private. Zeb recognized his power as a Wizard’s and took him to McMurphy’s Pub across the street. Once in the backroom, the rest of the party revealed themselves and Jack gave Zeb the number. Zeb recognized the code as a Warden distress code in the case of Time Travel. They told him…what he needed to know and tried like hell to not tell him about the future. Zeb agreed to help them, but first thought about everything the Warden’s manual said about the 6th Law.

Time Travel it seemed was more difficult than previously thought. The spell Fitzgerald and the others cast sent them into the Past only temporarily, a few days at most. The Potions they took were inoculations of some sort and that when the spell wore off the travelers would be shunted back to the present give or take some time. As Zeb’s teacher explained to him, “What is historical tends to stay historical” and it is very difficult to change the future drastically without a great deal of energy concentrated very carefully. The best times to change the past are at times of great conflict, when the balance of power and life changes. The party figured that meant the riots in two days. The best way involved not just outside influence (like the power of an Outsider like Mr. Nobody had) but agents of the past as well. That is, the Time Travelers themselves couldn’t necessarily kill someone not meant to die at that moment, but they could convince someone native to the past to do it for them or move with them as the violence took place. That way the timeline would be consistent internally.

Zeb called his good friends, the Montague brothers Romeo and Mercutio and asked them to keep him apprised of any information they got on the whereabouts of new players in town and especially some Red Court Vampires.

Ec com93The Party went out and met Osamu at Zeb’s house…which in 1934 was a vacant lot no one was buying. Osamu followed Wellington’s people to a flat in Hooverville, the tenements south of Pioneer square, where they apparently were establishing a command post of some kind. Thrilled that the minions from future didn’t have Rayguns and a half-hour before another traveler would appear in the fountain the Party cranked up Zeb’s car and drove like bats out of hell at..40 miles an hour. Freeways had been made yet…

During the ride Lief rode on Slepnir(now in the form of a vintage Indian Motorcycle). When they came to a stop his Trouble of fighting fate convinced him to tell Young Zeb to invest in several companies. Based on the overreaction of Jack and the truth Zeb read from Lief’s voice he considered the matter for future reference.

Trey Wellington fell out of the sky in a crack of thunder. Curious why he wasn’t on fire in the July sun, the party jumped the pair.

Jack threw a shackle spell onto Fitzgerald, holding him down for Leif’s spear. But Fitzgerald’s magical speed broke him free.

Seeing a magical bracelet grafted onto Wellington’s arm, Ryan and Osamu hit him with a one-two combo ripping his whole damn arm off. Then the sunlight hit him and the Vampire caught fire. He ran for shade but ended up at the feet of Jack Youngblood.

Trey looked at Jack angrily, “You…”

“Hi Trey.” Jack said as he raised his staff, “Bye Trey…”
Ec com94
The force of Jack’s focused Magical Laser Blast turned Trey Wellington into a grease spot upon a nearby brick wall like the aftermath of a nuclear blast in the shape of a monster holding up his hands in fear.

Zeb approached the warlock with his new Warden’s sword in hand, but the Young Warden was too passionate and met Fitzgerald’s eyes for a Soulgaze…

Zeb Saw Fitzgerald Kennedy: Single Father, Coach, Deacon and good soul dedicated to his daughter, Karolynn. Zeb Saw Fitzgerald lose his daughter, his life to sadness then madness. Zeb Saw that Karolynn’s death was his own fault. Zeb saw Fitzgerald gather forbidden power and break the laws of magic to save his little girl. Zeb Saw that Fitzgerald had looked upon Zeb’s Soul for one reason: so that Zeb would know his pain…

Zeb stood there, Futureshocked…And would never be able to forget it…

Lief then ran Fitzgerald down into the fountain so that Osamu could knock him unconscious. Hearing the whistles of police, the party hog-tied Fitzgerald and drove away. But, not before Lief pulled out a box of donuts from the Duffle bag and left it for them.

They took Fitzgerald’s tools and weapons away and found his itinerary, encoded in short-hand. After Jack decrypted it, he found it told of a rendezvous with the other travelers in 2 days at the Arctic Club. Fitzgerald’s calculations indicated that Mr. Nobody’s thugs arrived at the same time as Trey but somewhere else and was in the middle of calculating Mr. Nobody’s ETA when the party attacked him.

The party decided to go to the Youngblood Estate, which looked just like it always did. It looked so familiar to Jack that he greeted the Ghosts of the neighborhood that he always did. Except that in 1934, some of them including the mailman that rode by were still alive… After having heard the stories of their troubles for so long, Jack did what he had always done in trying to help the spirits find peace. Even if they weren’t dead yet…

The Colonial-era Ghosts standing sentry outside the estate stopped Jack at the door.

“Stop Villain or be gone!” The ghosts said.

“It’s alright Roderick. Lighten up.” Jack’s Father’s Ghost said.

The Colonial Guards had an ethereal double-take seeing their master older and quite…dead.

The party moved inside the haunted house and moved into the basement. They put Fitzgerald in shackles and closed him inside the ritual circle embedded in the floor for a little Interrogation…

Over the cellphone the heroes listened to the battle between Big G and Dozer.Ec com88

“Knight of The Water. A Warrior they call you…Dogman.” Big G said as he beat up Dozer over the phone.

“Who the F*** are…?” Dozer said, silenced by fists and concrete.

“I am named for my father who was named for the human town he was bound to protect. Gubbio…But my children call me ‘Big G’”

Dozer spit out a tooth. “Dogman? We’re the Pack. We’ll cut off your balls and put them on my wall.”

Dozer’s fist made an odd sound when it broke on Big G’s skin.

“You murdered my children. I would love to filet you… but my master is on a time table…”

“Let’s get this over with then!” Dozer moved into Wolf Form…but Big G retorted with strength beyond strength. The Wolfman roared then screeched between broken teeth.

“Local Legend says you cannot die…Let’s test that…”

Dozer’s screech between gritted teeth killed the cellphone next to the two Wizards.

Hot on the heels of the cellphone call to Dozer; Zeb, Jack, Ryan, Osamu and Leif drove like mad to Lynne’s Den in Zeb’s Studebaker. Being a Seattle Native Zeb drove in the left lane at 60 in the middle of the night. Ryan’s sharp eyes saved the Studebaker when he spotted the telltale sign of piano wire strung up at neck level that had already decapitated one member of The Pack.

They found the front door broken down, everyone gone because of the Bag of Dog Biscuits thrown through the front window followed by gunfire. Two Pack members lay very dead, Big G’s fists must hit like Mack Trucks. Jack communed with the spirits of dead Pack Members who had watched the whole thing.

Leif gave medical attention to Dozer who was regenerating in Wolf Form. His heart was missing. When Leif gave Dozer some of his immortal blood, it was a hell of a thing for the Doctor to see a heart regrow in front of his eyes.

Using his spirit power to commune with the Wolf Spirit that gave Dozer his wolf form, Jack found out Big G disguised himself as a prospective Pack member by skinning the prospect and wearing his skin, ambushed the big wolf, took the heart and ran into the Nevernever. Gypsy had decided to follow Big G’s scent to where he had been before the attack. Ec com89

Taking the Obsidian spears from the Native American display in the club and some gravel from the parking lot, the party called Gypsy and followed her to an Apartment in Alki. To the Apartment of Fitzgerald Kennedy, the father of Karolynn Kennedy, the would-be-apprentice of Zeb and a girl possessed by a spirit that Zeb had been forced to kill. When Ryan was a student he remembered Fitzgerald had lost his wife, forcing him and his daughter, Karolynn to become very close. After Karolynn died, Fitzgerald didn’t take the loss well at all it seems.

Leif examined a shrine Fitzgerald had made of a photo of him and his daughter Karolynn upon her old bed. He looked upon Fitzgerald’s image with his Fate Sight.

Leif saw Fitzgerald laid low in the middle of a magical grudge match. He saw him wounded, on his knees amidst broken ground and shards of ice and fire, getting a Coup-de-grace from a wardens’s sword. But Leif also saw the Fate branch off. In another strand Fitzgerald reunited with his Daughter graduating from College very much alive. But that was impossible…

Inside of the apartment was a goldmine of information. Fitzgerald had been doing extensive research on both Zeb and Jack, tracing them and their families through photographs and public records.

The detected traces of Black Magic meant that Fitzgerald had Power and the perfect motive to use it…

Ryan looked upon a map Fitzgerald had been working on a deciphered a Mathematical Pentacle pattern. He located a building in the Warehouse District. Then The Balance tipped again.

The Heroes geared up as Ryan drove. Zeb gathering power, Jack clearing his mind, Osamu practicing a maneuver with the gravel. One the way they called Woof, who had been doing odd jobs for Odiana in Mr. Squire’s absence. He offered to do some sniping with his Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifle. Luckily Ryan saw the spike strip before they drove over it.
Ec com90
With Leif and Ryan running distraction and Woof taking out the snipers one by one, the rest took the Big Bad Wolves guarding the Warehouse by surprise. Osamu smashed one into goo with a death-from-above attack using a pebble while Ryan went toe-to-toe with the other. After slamming one against the brick wall, spearing him with pieces of stonework, the wolf retreated in fear. But Ryan’s vengeance could not be controlled and the open wounds were the perfect place for Ryan’s steel Escrima sticks.

Leif wrenched his bike into a sharp turn spraying gravel into one wolf’s face while Zeb, hidden under a veil, attacked from surprise with an obsidian spear. The Wolf followed up with an RPG attack at close range, but Leif ran the bastard dog down with his motorcycle, leaving a blood trail behind like the delorean in Back to The Future. Jack, hidden by his own spell, merely walked past and jumped the fence towards the warehouse which pulsed with gathering power. Then Big G stepped out.

Unseen, Jack caught Big G by surprise and dispelled the skin suit that protected him with a stroke of his Warden’s Sword. The Skin Suit fell away and revealed Big G to be of…no small stature. 10 feet tall at least…

Jack was certain he had never seen a wolf of this size and hoped he never had to see one again…

Big G swiped at Jack, but Jack desperately deflected the blow. Zeb caught up and used a lightning spell upon the giant wolf. The Wolf had prepared for casters, but not enough for the Magma Kracken. He got turned to a big crispy critter. Then Jack followed up with his Battleship Laserblast, flash frying and bedazzling the wolf before he was executed at long range by a more than happy Woof firing his high powered sniper rifle.

Jack’s Laser Blast cut open the front of the Warehouse, revealing a large ritual space. The same one Leif had seen in his vision. In the center, a large Astrolabe modelling the movement of planetary bodies with a moon made of real moon rocks. Around the astrolabe was were the three casters; Fitzgerald Kennedy, Trey Wellington and Mr. Nobody now mostly rebuilt. The casters were too far along in the ritual to stop now, they had to finish or blow themselves up with backlash. With Wellington and Mr. Nobody were groups of goons dressed strangely and in front of Fitzgerald were a number of potions

But before the group could contemplate how best to dismantle the ritual without blowing up the city, the mysterious Duffle Bag Leif had gotten months before opened. Inside was a note…

“Let the spell go off and follow them.

The Duffle has everything you’ll need.

Drink the Potions or you are all going to die.

Proof I mean what I say: Lief, your fly is unzipped. "

Leif checked and his fly WAS unzipped… He immediately handed out new clothes for everyone to wear, his historical knowledge telling them that the clothes were from the 1930’s.

It was then the party realized the truth of the situation..

…that the Ritual wasn’t a summoning, it was a sending. It was a spell for Time Travel and they had to go along for the ride…
Ec com91
Things got worse when Ryan found a pen and a blank piece of paper with his clothes and the dark power of his host took hold of him. The pen moved faster and more precisely than Ryan could have done on his own. Ryan looked down at what his master had made him do. It was an Intricately detailed Drawing of an Old Photograph. The Photograph depicts two men in the trenches of World War I. They are particularly Handsome Brothers. They were identified by Leif as Lord Romeo Montague and his brother, Mercutio.

Below the image is text scrawled in neat handwriting.

“One Must Live, The Rest Must Die

You Must Choose"

“Aw crap…” Ryan said as the party moved into the ritual circle.

As the spell built up, the party heard the worst latin in the world, magic words about “Quantities of fifty” and “one-thousand-nine-hundred and ninety-nine” It was only at the cresencdo after they said, “guitar” when the party recognized the song and facepalmed, “So take me away…I don’t mind… but you better promise me I’ll be BACK IN TIIIIIMMMMEEEE!!!” Then all went white…

Two Weeks before the Balance had been disrupted, UW Grad Student turned Emissary of Power Ryan Belmont had been doing pretty good for himself all things considered. Possessing the body of his own killer had run him afoul of the local Russian Mob, but with the help of a few friends around town Ryan managed to break up the franchise. After chilling out for the afternoon in the Sci-Fi Museum, he took a stroll in the night air beneath the Space Needle. The serene night was shook by a brief thunderclap despite there not being any clouds.

Ec com86Then a body fell out of the sky…

Ryan had always been In The Wrong Place at The Right Time, so this was about par for his night. The corpse itself was nothing to speak of, a homeless-looking man in jeans and a t-shirt. Being the first person on sight Ryan called 911, but because his host body was a mafia legbreaker, he did so anonymously on a burner cell. He took photos of the mysterious corpse on his smartphone and ran off as the authorities came faster than usual.

Ryan called his friend Leif Wotenson and together they followed up on the weirdness by getting Leif’s friend the Medical Examiner let him check out the body. Leif’s old friend was happy to let him consult since the falling body was only the third weirdest corpse he had had in the past few weeks.

The Second weirdest corpse was a teenage girl who had apparently burst open from abdomen. Uterus and lower intestines completely gone and looked chewed upon by animals. The Weirdest corpse being the top skinned half of a man with an artificial hip. Leif thought about past events and Lore and put two and two together. Big Bad Wolves obviously skinned the one body and lost their appetite when they hit the Iron-laden hip. There was also a piece of Lore Leif remembered from Jack & Zeb’s files that said that Big Bad Wolves have an affinity for virgins. When they have sex with a virgin, instead of giving birth to a single changeling, the poor girl will give birth to an entire litter. The horrific scene allowed Ryan to persuade the Coroner to get coffee with him for a few minutes while Leif examined the mystery body.

The Coroner’s initial report said that the fall was too high for the victim to have jumped off the top of the Needle(let alone wondering how the hell he got up there) and too low to have fallen out of a plane.

Leif used his Fate Sense and a little Divination to find out why the man died…

Leif saw that the homeless man’s strand of fate had been but cut. He was the man in the web from before when he looked on Mr. Nobody’s fate. Leif then saw the man’s death in a blur. He was begging on the street until he saw a pair of eyes and looked into them until he lost himself… Then the man became no longer a man, he was a Renfield. Then he was inside of a ritual circle centered with a massive Astrolabe. Power swelled around the Renfield and then poof! The man was falling…

When he consulted with Zeb, the pair deduced 2 things about the ritual in question that was visible.

1.(Lore 6) The Ritual was being performed in some warehouse. If it started up again, the search would be narrowed considerably.

2.(Lore 9) The ritual being performing was the same one Jack deduced, a high-level Transportation Spell of some potent variety. It was either bringing something in or sending something out. Most likely the Renfield was a test subject testing the waters like a diver on a diving board for the real McCoy: The summoning of some powerful entity like The Leviathon into this world. Or at least that was his best guess.

A few days later, Ryan found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time…again. He had an itching for some baked goods and just as he hit a red light he saw Silvio get his tongue ripped out… Joining the group and finding out about The Balance’s troubles Ryan decided all hands should be on deck to take down this SOB Mr. Nobody and his goons.

Figuring that the “Hands of a Holy Man” could refer to Reverend Charlie, the party went to his temple and waited. Charlie offered in Buddist fashion to let Takahashi take his hands if it meant no innocents would be hurt, but Osamu wouldn’t have it.
Ec com87
Takahashi appeared in the doorway…

…The party accepted his challenge and the two Monks faced off against each other.

Then a pair of ninjas with inhuman strength and speed fell out of the shadows and the fight was on.

Jack used ghosts of monks that had died in meditation and the ancestors of the locals to pin one of the ninjas to the wall. Lief went into a berserker rage threw a few Harpoon evocations at the ninjas but their speed allowed them to dodge most of them. Ryan used his Superhuman Strength to stomp the other into submission. Zeb being old and wise ran out the back with Charlie.

Osamu went toe-to-toe with Takahashi, but a few good shots from the not-so-honorable Ryan, Jack and Lief took Takahashi down.

When the monk lay very wounded and rethinking his life choices Zeb spoke in his Magma Kraken voice and got Takahashi to yield.

Lief took down the Ninja pinned to the wall.

Because Ryan doesn’t know his own strength he cracked the head of the other ninja and managed to get brain all over his hand and his favorite duds.

Among their belongs the party found a cellphone. On the cellphone Ryan and Lief found a voicemail. The voicemail said, “The Boss said, ‘the plan’s bin’ accelerated’ you get The Hands and Big G will get The Heart. The Dogs won’t know what hit ’em.” Taking this to mean The Pack, they immediately called Dozer.

Dozer accepted the news with caution but said he wouldn’t fall for any of that challenge crap. Then someone threw a bag of dog biscuits and a hail of bullets through the front window of the Motorcycle Club. Enraged by the taunt, The Pack went out for some street justice. It sounded like Dozer would lead them, then there was the sound of a door closing and the sound of meat meeting concrete…

While Supernatural Entrepreneur Mr. Nobody was getting his ass handed to him, Leif Wotenson felt in his gut to watch out for reinforcements. While he was waiting, a kid on a bicycle road up with a package. The kid said that he was paid a lot of money to deliver the package to Leif right there, right then. Leif accepted the package but had many questions about it. Ec com83

The Package was a large old duffle bag covered in enchanted chains and locks and a note that said, “The duffle bag will open when the Time is right. Don’t try to open it, you’ll just hurt yourself.”

About a month and a half later, Leif managed to get a meeting with his father. The Hallows god known as Odin. The retired God looked at the note, then the bag and said, “I didn’t send the bag.” He then answered Leif’s questions with, “Shut up and do what the note says…”

Afterword Leif used a divination spell to essentially X-Ray the bag. He figured out that the bag could have been made by someone like him, was the Thaumaturgical version of a fridge in that it preserved the contents within it and that all it had in it was 5 pairs of clothes, 5 pairs of shoes, a few piles of money and a few discernible small knick-knacks. He also discovered that the magic was going to run out in six months…

Six months later, when the present caught up to everyone, Leif chipped in by getting Monoc Securities to handle Jack, Osamu, Woof and Zeb’s legal defense against Mr. Nobody who claimed he was an innocent victim who was assaulted by the group.

After Mr. Squire was severely beaten, Leif and WoofMATHEWWOOFRILEY went to the hospital Mr. Nobody was at. They were stopped cold by the bodyguards on loan from Baron John Marcone of Chicago. Even with Leif posing as a hospital doctor, the only one allowed to see Mr. Nobody was his personal physician: Dr. Kokanos. A little bit of persuasion later, Woof managed to point out to the Hospital Security that the surveillance tapes of Mr. Nobody’s room had been doctored. As Hospital Security and Mafia goons confronted each other, Leif sneaked past them to find Mr. Nobody’s room empty. He used his fate sight on the room to see the Doctor taking Mr. Nobody into the Nevernever.

That night Jack and Osamu decided to do some magical Gumshoeing in the case of the vandalized buildings, believing them connected somehow to the Balance being disrupted. They took a brick from the old UW Library, one of the buildings that had been vandalized, and used it in a divination to locate the part of the building that had been taken. Hopefully this would lead them to the unbalancing ritual.

Ec com84The pair followed the Divination to a warehouse in Georgetown and the whole building was veiled. Inside they found a ritual magic circle manned by a warlock looking, but very handsome guy in a stereotypical black robes muttering nonsense. Jack unveiled and showed the warlock looking punk his Warden’s sword. The Red Court Vampire smiled and said, “Mr. Youngblood, we’ve been expecting you…” just as the doors to the warehouse slammed closed and two other Vampires leapt down and attacked Jack and Osamu.

Unfortunately for Hoodie, he wasn’t mortal so breaking through the Magic Circle was like jumping into a brick wall. Jack Force Magic-blasted one of the Vampires into next week and through a wall, causing the building to start collapsing. Osamu swept the leg of the other vampire and taught him the meaning of a boot to the head and a knee to the back when he broke them. When the collapsing building got Hoodie out of the magic circle, he closed with Jack. But, the ghost of Jack’s father saved his son and together with the spirits around they used Jack’s Warden’s Sword in a Boomerang Evocation that cut the Red Court Vampire in half.

Jack grabbed every scrap of information he could from the ritual circle and discussed the case with his Father’s Spirit as they ran out of the collapsing warehouse. Father and Son deduced that the most likely use for the pieces of buildings that could also utilize that much power being tapped from The Balance was high-level Transportation Spell of some kind. Jack reasoned through Mr. Nobody’s connection to Sawney Bean that he is prepping a massive Summoning of a being on par with if not the Leviathan itself. Right beside him, Osamu carried the unconscious body of the Red Court Vampire and the pair decided to pay Dozer a visit…

Dozer woke up the Red Court vamp and the Ex-SEAL needed no effort to get the Vampire to spill everything it knew. Trey Wellington had been recruiting lately, gearing up for something big presumably with Mr. Nobody. He commissioned the Vampires as a decoy/trap, sealing the stolen pieces of the buildings off so the Wardens would follow them to the warehouse. The Vampire also revealed that he had been given instructions to look for potentials on “the List” that was found in his pocket:

Ec com85

  1. The Guts of a Healthy Man
  2. The Hands of a Holy Man
  3. The Hide of an Ogre
  4. The Muscles of a Monster
  5. The Heart of a Warrior
  6. The Limbs of a Monster
  7. The Silver Tongue of a Faerie
  8. The Face of an Incubus
  9. The Eyes of a Wizard

Meanwhile, Zeb set up a ritual around the International District to slow the deterioration of The Balance. He finished just as the others regrouped with him. When the party regrouped they pooled their information. They figured out that Takahashi Hidenori was building Mr. Nobody a new body one body part at a time through his personal doctor Kokanos, a known member of the Prosthanos Society. The also deduced a few possible donors for the pieces on the list.

Leif then got a call from Maggie Simpkins. At Maggie’s Bakery, they found the place heavily damaged and Silvio Khlores against the wall severely injured and without his silver tongue…

Wardens Jack Youngblood & Zebediah Ainar, Martial Artist Osamu Nishimura, and Odiana’s Hound Mathew “Woof” Riley set out to confront Mr. Nobody on the roof of his drowned drug lab. Leif stayed behind to watch the perimeter in case he called for reinforcements.

Supernatural Entrepreneur Mr. Nobody had tried to get into his drug lab on Harbor Island through a Way in the Nevernever. Then a Wizard and a Son of Odin dropped it 15 feet down. He fell out of the sky… Gravity said hello…

Mr. Nobody was not pleased…

Mr. Nobody tried to contact his Familiar, the Intellect Spirit Theodore through a thaumaturgical link(a teddy bear)…nothing. Detective Roy Mullenix had shot the spirit’s homonculus(a stuffed Link Hogthrob) and trapped it in a magic circle. Mr. Nobody looked around at his lab and called for his troops… All dead or run away. Mr. Nobody looked at the heroes and put the pieces together that he was well and truly between a rock, a hard place and an even bigger rock.

Mr. Nobody had a particularly strong reaction towards Jack, recognizing him this time. He complained that “the bitch lied…” But the Entrepreneur tried to salvage the situation. He made an offer to the heroes and especially trying to appeal to Jack’s criminal past, to rebuild the empire, run the whole city and stick it to the man…

Jack spit in his face and said, “I am the man…A**hole…”

Mr. Nobody replied, “If you turn down this opportunity… I will call in every favor I have and I will burn you… The Youngblood Legacy and the legendary Magma Kraken won’t even be footnotes…”

Ec com79Zeb tipped his hat, “I’ve heard worse threats from more powerful men…”

Jack said, “The White Council doesn’t fear people like…”

“F*** The White Council.” Mr. Nobody responded.

The heroes readied for a fight. Looking over the cornered Mr. Nobody, they didn’t detect any magic on him. The only things Mr. Nobody appeared to have was a number of rings on each hand and a silver Pimp cane. The tension rose…

“You know what the difference is between you and me?” Mr. Nobody asked as he pulled out a black marble, “A demon owes me a favor.”

Mr. Nobody slammed the black marble down and summoned a Demon. The demon arrived surprised until he noticed Mr. Nobody. The dread thing put away his copy of Redbook, cleared his froggie throat and ROARED at the heroes.

Woof’s gun spat a burst at Mr. Nobody, but the bullets bounced off an invisible shield. But the Spec Ops man’s marksmanship overwhelmed the shield and Mr. Nobody took a round in the shoulder.

Osamu ran forward, facing off against the demon. He spoke to the monster and hoped that his Aura and Reputation would convince the Demon to leave. The Demon responded, “It’s a living…” Then the Wizards hit the Demon with a one-two punch.

Zeb’s Confusion spell of altered light turned his field of vision into a Kaleidoscope, making the demon unable to dodge or defend. Then Jack unleashed a Battleship-Class Laser Beam that scorched and flashfried the Demon’s whole body into a crispy critter.

The demon rethought his life choices, turned to Mr. Nobody and said, "Our deal was that I would fight for you…I have. good luck with this " , flipped him the middle claw and fled….

Mr. Nobody still had some more tricks though, his cane unleashed a strong magnetic field that took Woof’s gun and Zeb’s sword from their hands and a Kinetic blast from his rings almost took Osamu’s head off. Zeb tried to counterattack with an Air Blast but the Magic slid off Mr. Nobody’s Wardcloth, mcaking him immune to Magical Attacks.

However the Ward cloth didn’t protect Mr. Nobody from Osamu’s collarbone strike and Jack’s subsequent blast to the broken roof beneath Mr. Nobody’s feet. Mr. Nobody fell through the roof, bounced off the wall and took a header into a vat of the base of his own magical drugs, which turned to be somewhat corrosive even as it leaked out into Pudget Sound, the water unmaking the dark magic of the blood of Sawney Bean. Ec com80

The source of the drug turned out to be a poor homeless man who owed Mr. Nobody a favor. His shoulder had been replaced with a piece of Sawney Bean by a member of the Prosthanos Society. Zeb removed it from the man with his Warden’s Sword and destroyed what little was left of the lab to prevent anyone from using it further. But not before taking plenty of blood from Mr. Nobody just in case…

Mr. Nobody himself didn’t die, but was left for the police horribly scarred, his tongue bitten off, his limbs broken, his eyes chemically burned and his empire destroyed…

AFTERWORD

Zeb had tried to track the other parts of Sawney Bean but had found a whole lot of nothing. Mr. Nobody had apparently taken steps for his other labs. He did however manage to stow away Mr. Nobody’s Wardcloths for potential later use.

Jack questioned the Familiar, Theodore who was now cut off from his host. Theodore seemed content to surf porn on the internet for the rest of eternity, but was also more than willing to make another bargin with another mortal if an offer was made. Jack made an executive decision to seal Theodore away in the Youngblood safe in anticipation of a new host when the time is right…

Sadly the familiar didn’t realize that the safe didn’t get any Wireless reception…

A WEEK LATER

Osamu walked into his dojo to find a very rude man waiting for him. Takahashi “Tak” Hidenori had been sent by the masters of Osamu’s Eastern Temple. The Temple’s Sensei had gotten word of Osamu’s Youtube Channel featuring his martial arts exploits and sent Tak to relieve Osamu of his Tanbo, his position and his honor. Tak reveled in the job openly displaying an understanding of technology and pop culture that Osamu lacked as well as a fondness for a man who had contributed to certain people in the Eastern Temple, “Mienai-Sama” or as Osamu knew him, Mr. Nobody. Tak left with the Tanbo to assume his new position and casually dragged mud through the dojo since he never took off his shoes…

Osamu went to Zeb’s house for a drink and once Silvio arrived home it turned into a block party…

TWO MONTHS LATER

With Mr. Nobody in a coma and his Attorney from Baron John Marcone’s law firm keeping the authorities at bay, things had been going slow around Seattle. Roy and his family had taken a long-earned Family Vacation to Europe for some time sight-seeing and Disney Land Paris(or at least that was the cover story for Venatori business and Megan’s Training); Caroline’s studies had been going well especially after a long chat with Claire Redwood about Magic and unintended consequences; Dozer’s ride had been compensated for with Jack’s Indian Motorcycle, forcing Jack to pick up chicks around town in his sexy wood-paneled Ford Fairlanes Station Wagon…; Osamu had been training heavily to rediscover his martial arts without his Tanbo and all seemed to be well. Ec com81

Then the weirdness started happening…

Seattle Special Investigations had gotten backed up with 3 cases that got them scratching their heads:

1. A body fell out of the sky onto the base of the Space Needle. Luckily it happened late at night so Lord Montague managed to bury the story before the news station a few blocks away got wind of it, but just barely.

2. Takahasi’s approach to his new post has been to go full ninja. No witnesses have been able to spot him, but his invisible violence has been felt all across the city in numerous assaults and battery. Osamu may have defended the people, but not like this.

3. Numerous thefts have been reported around the Metro area. Apparently someone’s been stealing been stealing pieces of buildings with no discernible pattern…

Then one morning things got weirder when The Balance the Saints had maintained for a century went out of whack. Within hours even minor talents started to feel it and animals started to act unnaturally. Within days the Saints had called an emergency meeting of Emerald Conclave.

Just before going to the Conclave, Silvio gathered everyone into his Demense again. Roy had gotten word that Mr. Nobody had woken up from his coma and demanded to exercise his Right to a Speedy and Fair Trial…

NOW WE’RE BACK TO THEPRESENT

At the Emerald Conclave meeting, even Lord Montague was clueless about what had been happening with The Balance. Everyone there admitted complete ignorance of the events but all gathered knew the dangers of the Century-old Geomancy becoming unstable.

When the Saints arrived the one to explain the situation was not The Dragon Lady, Kim, Babylon or Reverend Charlie. Instead, the caller of the meeting was an old chinese man in a wheelchair pushed by a young assistant. Although the man had not been seen in public in seventy years, his presence was both felt by those gathered and his reputation such that the older members recognized him immediately. The man had been the architect of The Balance so many years ago.
The man known as “The King of Chinatown,” Xiangshin the Immortal…

The Immortal spoke through his assistant. He explained that the Balance was being disrupted, its energy drained or redirected. Zeb corroborated that if the Balance was not corrected and the perpetrators stopped the Geomantic energies could run out of control and it could mean bad things.

“What kind of bad things?” Someone asked.

“How do you feel about Mount St. Helens?” Zeb responded, causing everyone to murmur.

Xiangshin then continued that if the Balance wasn’t restored soon then he would correct it himself by force. At first that didn’t sound so bad… Jack even encouraged him to do so…until Zeb further explained that such an event of brute force would be as bad metaphysically as the Earthquake was physically. It would destroy the very fabric of Power in the Seattle Area, make the area’s prosperity crumble, the innovation that had fueled Seattle’s boom and bust cycle would simply bust. The positive Karma that had accrued and allowed Seattle to bounce back after the quake would run out. All kinds of bad.

The discussion, resulting arguments and accusations of who might have tampered with the advanced Geomancy bored Osamu and drew his eye to the crowd or rather who wasn’t in it. Several high profile people were missing from the Conclave meeting including Odiana’s own Mr. Squire…until one of Odiana’s handmaidens dragged him into the meeting hall.

Mr. Squire had been beaten within an inch of his life and had been partially flayed. The missing skin and muscle apparently hadn’t been cut off with a scalpel, but ripped off with bare hands…

Before passing out Squire told of a man who challenged him to a duel and promptly defeated him. The fighting style and language told Osamu that only Tak was the one who had done this. And by challenging Squire to a Duel, there was no legal grounds for Odiana to seek retaliation formally. So she politely asked Woof to “Get her a steak.” and handle the situation…

After gathering additional intel from SGT. GENA BUEHLER the party realized that now would be the best time to hit Mr. Nobody’s drug trade. If they waited he might move his operations and Gena’s months of undercover work and sacrifice would be worthless. The undercover officer revealed that Nobody’s supply came out of a warehouse on what was left of Harbor Island while he was using the Costco on 4th Avenue as his distribution hub. Because of the extensive damage suffered on Black Monday the only way to get to the island was by boat. The group decided to split up with ZEBADIAH EINAR, LIEF WOTENSEN and MATHEWWOOFRILEY hitting the island while JACK YOUNGBLOOD and OSAMU NISHIMURA would hit the Costco. Ec com76

Jack and Osamu visited The Pack first to tell them about the new wolves that had entered the den and to see if DOZER was willing to help them take Nobody’s business down. It didn’t take much to get the fiery tempered biker to join them. He was in no way pleased that a rival pack of wolves had intruded on his territory and were likely responsible for the death of some of his men. He sent GYPSY directly with the Young Dragon and the Warden to scout out the Costco while he gathered his forces.

When they got there Gypsy stripped off her clothes before changing into a wolf, the whole time subtly flirting with the Monk. Osamu was obviously embarrassed at her attentions and blushing furiously kept his eyes firmly on the ground. Jack enjoyed the view matching the werewolf’s brazenness with his own even commenting on one of her tattoos which featured some kanji. When he asked Osamu to translate the monk was so shaken that he nearly tripped over his own sandals.

It took a while before Jack could pull himself together after that because he was laughing so hard but he managed to finally achieve the calm needed to do the job before him. He opened himself up to the spirits in the area hoping to find out whatever he could about the Big Bad Wolves and their operation. He learned quite a bit from the local ghosts, some of whom had been killed by booby traps placed in the area to protect Mr. Nobody’s business. He relayed everything he had learned to Gypsy and sent Osamu into the facility to disarm some of the traps. One of the most disconcerting things he learned was that the Costco was also being used as a disaster relief center that distributed food and other supplies to those still suffering from the effects of the quake. This meant that there were quite a few innocent people milling around waiting to get food at the building. Jack used his mastery of Spirit Magic to summon as many spirits as he could and then sent them to menace the area creating a subtle atmosphere of fear and uneasiness hoping to get them to leave. Dozer had arrived with some of his hitters at that point and getting off his bike he changed into a wolf and prepared for battle.

Sadly Osamu was discovered by a pair of Big Bad Wolves guarding the building when he set off an alarm. Knowing that they were very difficult to hurt while wearing their meat suits the monk fought a retreating battle against them as they unloaded their submachineguns. What’s worse is that the wolves recognized Osamu due to his reputation and decided to hit him with a Molotov Cocktail, setting him on fire. Seeing that his friend was in trouble Jack reached out and poured his power into hexing the wolves’s guns. He did his work a little too well though because the power went out for the entire block. The wolves’s guns did jam though.

Ec com77Between the alarm going off, the gunshots, the power going out and Jack’s spirits adding to the menace of the scene the crowd in front of the building quickly dispersed scurrying out of the area as fast as they were able. Osamu dispatched one of his opponents, setting him on fire as Dozer, growling out a vengeful howl, charged down to attack the other Fae wolves exiting the building. Two more wolves came through a side exit to menace Osamu with a rocket launcher. Luckily Jack’s hex had done its job and the launcher just fizzed out with a shower of sparks.

While one wolf ran toward a van far out in the parking lot Jack stood up and started to calmly stalk toward the fight with his staff in one hand and his Warden’s Sword in the other. The other two wolves turned toward the monk but he managed to avoid their attacks. The running wolf had made it to the van by that point and was pulling out another rocket launcher and aiming it at Osamu when Jack used Fire Magic to detonate the fuel in the van’s gas tank. The resulting explosion immolated the hapless wolf blowing him all the way across the lot.

Jack then turned to the others pouring out of the Costco and used his Spirit Magic to slam one of them into the side of the building with mind boggling force collapsing part of a wall and throwing debris throughout the area. Osamu was caught by some of the shrapnel but was essentially unhurt. Dozer’s bike was not as fortunate however. A large chunk of the wall blew out from the attack and crushed it flat. The other wolf, completely cowed by such a display of power, ran off as fast as he was able. The savage howls of The Pack in its full fury sounded triumphantly down the streets as they tore the remaining Big Bad Wolves apart.

Jack looked with horror at the mangled motorcycle and said “Uh…We should go. Now.” He scribbled a hasty apology note and left it on the bike and got on his Indian Motorcycle with Osamu riding behind him wearing Caroline’s Hello Kitty helmet and got the hell out of there hoping to meet up with Zeb and the others to help out at the production facility.

MEANWHILE AT HARBOR ISLAND
Transcribed by Bradford

Lief, Zeb and Woof arrived at Harbor Island ready for anything and decided to play it smart instead of rushing in head-on, a sharp contrast to the Youngblood Party’s plan. Zeb veiled Woof with a Predator-style cloak and the ex-Spec Ops man stalked in right under the Big Bad Wolves’ noses.

Woof noticed that the Drug Lab was in an old building on the pier and that the Wolves had bricked up the entrances on the ground floor. The only way to get in would be through the Nevernever or through the upper levels which were crawling with Big Bad Wolves with Sniper Rifles.

Woof was so stealthy and the wolves were so sure of their precautions that he was easily able to disarmed the traps laid there including a Remote-Controlled Sniper. Ironically the Wolf Guards, standing not ten feet above him, were joking about how impossible it would be to locate and disarm all their traps AND make it past their noses. Woof, being afraid of all manner of canine got the hell out of there, but not before making his way down to the base of the pillar to collect some samples of the main support structure…

On the beach, Zeb and Lief hunkered down and made with some magic. They created a sandcastle of the lab and the pillar and used the samples Woof got to create a pair of Thaumatalurgical links to the main support structure. Then they used the waves coming in as a symbolic link between the sandcastle and the main support to rapidly wash it away. Lief also used the castle to bestow very very bad luck upon the guards and the area. As the sand was washed away from their effigy the actual building began to sink a little bit…

There was a mighty CRASH as the support partially gave out and part of Harbor Island SUNK down a few meters. Some of the guards up top fell into the cold waters of Pudget Sound and Lief decided to go Spear Fishing… Unfortunately while collecting his spears from the Big Bad Wolves’ bodies on a trail of Bifrost, a few of the other guards up top caught sight of him and began to shoot at him.

Woof used his big sniper rifle to show the wolves how it was done and Zeb used some of his new-found affinity for Ice to make a Beach Sand Spear that he used to harpoon one of the wolves. When the wolves fired back at Zeb, the magical protection offered by his belt buckle saved him from lasting harm. Zeb’s followup attempt to veil himself in defense backfired, his “gift” of ice from Odiana turning him into an invisible Zebsicle for a short time. As the the Big Bad Wolves regrouped with some RPGs, Woof and Lief took them out with some well aimed shots as they heard the explosions from the Costco in the distance…

The two parties regrouped at Harbor Island and caught each other up on their respective encounters, Jack wanting to be as far from Dozer as possible. The party decided that they would go in and secure the Drug Lab together, no telling what Mr. Nobody had guarding the inside of the lab. Just then, the party heard a “Yelp!” as Mr. Nobody exited the Nevernever through his usual portal, which was a few meters above where the sunken building’s roof now was.

The Heroes approached the lab cautiously, more than ready to do bad things to Mr. Nobody and the last of his supernatural criminal empire…
