The cabal and the children rescued by Coyote have returned to Earth from Mars. Equipped with new treasures from the halls of the Hermetic and knowledge in the Spheres, they make plans on how to counter and stop the plans of the Weeping Moon Society.
Yet with every plan there is a complication. The Technocracy organization known as the Border Corps have captured Ralph Cannon and shut down Hoover Dam. It is unsure if the Technocracy has acquired Cannon’s hostages or if they have successfully prevented Cannon’s mad plans to free the Storm Eater.
Meanwhile Po Kai confronts his master, Bruce Lee Roy, and comes face to face with Rose’s undead lover, Peter.
GM Notes: This chapter of the story takes place on August 17. The chapter begins with Wesley Smith attempting to surprise Raychelle by reuniting her with her lover, Sidi. Unfortunately when she sees Sidi, Raychelle loses her composure and flees, not wishing for her mortal lover to see her as an undead wraith. Wesley informs Sidi that Raychelle is a ghost and that she isn’t ready to see him yet. The Hermetic mage then heads to the surface of the ruins of Raven Estate to comfort Raychelle.
Jacob receives another dire vision about a nuclear explosion. Restless and unable to sleep, he wanders the grounds of the Raven Estate underground bunker and eavesdrops on a conversation between Jerry and Sidi about their mutual problems. Jacob then decides to head off into the city and let fate dictate where it takes him.
Po catches up and confronts his master, Bruce Lee Roy, who is in the midst of a combat with the zombie revenant Peter at a motel. The young mage is able to stop the fight temporarily but allows his master to finish off the zombie permanently. The two then argue over their past decisions, Po confronting Lee Roy about the memory blocks, and Lee Roy confronting Po about his behavior and strengthening Po’s inner demon. Po then informs his master that he must walk his own path and seek out his own master, causing Lee Roy to sadly agree. The pair begins to leave the motel but is stopped by Buona Fortuna. Po agrees to leave with Skip, Cynthia and Oz. While on route Po reveals what’s going on to Skip, while Skip reveals to Po the reasons behind the vampire’s hostilities with Isis Pharm. Angrily Po reveals Oz’s involvement with the Grave Digger Chantry, causing a confrontation between Oz and Skip.
Jacob arrives by chance in time to witness Oz leaving the parked Buona Fortuna followed by Cynthia, his ex-lover. Cynthia tries to convince Oz to stay behind but the demon hunter refuses to work with Skip if he continues to work with vampires. Jacob and Cynthia reunite and share little on what’s going on, with Cynthia warning Jacob to beware of Julian Raven. Po leaves Skip’s car and joins up with Jacob departing the scene.
While on route and discussing the Storm Eater, they are forced to stop and witness a parade of Grim Legionnaires followed by an assortment of cars made up of the Rollin 60s, the Play Boys, and the GPK. The large wraith parade is geared for war and leaves the city in the direction of the north. Po and Jacob quickly return to the Raven’s secret bunker and alert Wesley as to what is going on. Using Jacob’s magic, they’re able to follow the war band of wraiths as they travel north to the prison.
Po decides to use this opportunity to finish up some loose ends and goes off to meet up with Wendy. He then comes clean about the supernatural community and tries to convince her that magic is real. Wendy is skeptical until Po leads her out to follow the wraiths outside the maximum state Nevada prison where the Roman is holding a speech. The Roman promises the wraiths, the projectors, and the gang bangers that no prison can hold them anymore. He promises them a New Stygia empire built in the deserts of Nevada. The pigment ghost of Bishop Cale O’Reily steps forward and blesses the assembled wraiths in the name of god and the angel of death. The Grim Legion surges west on their crusade to wipe out or recruit unaligned wraiths, seeking out ghost town where communities of wraith still linger.
Convinced that the supernatural is real, Wendy informs Po that she needs time to digest this information. Po drops her back at her home and returns to the cabal to make war plans. The group decides to use the children of Coyote to aid them in their plans, as each child is a specialist in a single sphere. They contact Julian Raven and he arrives from the Digital Web, aiding the cabal in their war plans. After hours of debate and theories, the group settled on placing up wards and making a long range attack on the Roman and his lieutenants. They succeed in destroying the Roman and his lieutenants using a combination of different attacks, creating chaos among the Grim Legion and infighting as paranoid groups blames one another for the assassination of the Roman.
The session ends with the defeat of the Grim Legion.
