Melyndria is the northern most continent, covered in vast forests, lush valleys, and steep mountain ranges. It is dominated by human settlements and ruled over by four different human kingdoms, Astoria, Auschlund, Cordina, and Varagia. However, it was not always this way.
Once, long ago, before there was any human nations established on Melyndria, there was a man known as Rudegar, or as he was later known by the name Rudegar the Conqueror. Rudegar arrived from a long forgotten empire off the continent of Kelthornis, to carve out a new realm for himself, by either enslaving or exterminating all the local humanoid tribes that lived there. Not long after Rudegar had conquered everything on Melyndria, he died, leaving this newly forged nation in the hands of his only son Olen, or as historians would later name him Olen the Wise, due to his great and benevolent rule over the land. However, as all humans do, Olen eventually grew too old and before he died, he divided up the great nation amongst his four male heirs, Astor, Cord, Olen the Younger, and Varag. He also had the foresight of making all of his children swear an oath to him, and to each other, on his death bed, that they would always remain close allies, and to always aid one another in times of great peril. This pact would become known as the Treaty of Olen. Eventually, over time, each son’s kingdom would develop into entirely separate cultures, as their rulers would die or change over the next several generations, into what they currently exist at this time.
