A strange man called Jarel shows up in Carper’s Bay claiming to know that he was told Engar and Brutus had died. He also claimed to have information about the killers – or at least clues that would lead to the killers.
A clever trap – involving massive amounts of alcohol – was set to discover just how much Jarel knew, and if he was to be trusted. Here’s what was discovered:
- Jarel is a noble from House Rau of Ptolus
- He believes that a red-haired female ranger was involved in the murder. That ranger can be found in a small town called Vioth.
- Vioth has a big kobold infestation problem and the kobolds are well organized.
- Engar and Brutus were House Rau agents.
Mamon also did a bit of exploring and discovered:
- Someone was spying on Brutus’ and Engar’s houses.
- Jarel has orders: he needs to get our intrepid adventurers to work for House Rau and he needs to escort a “Midnight Oil” shipment back to Ptolus on the way back to the city.
- Fortunes can be made with Stealth and Thievery checks!
