Ettercap enigma

Scene 2 of The Slumbering Oracles – Skill Challenge (XP 450)

The PCs find an old orc lair covered in spider webs… And they also find the trail of 2 humans (their masters)

Scene lowdown:

  • The first 40 feet of the cave are covered in spiderweb (diff. terrain)
  • There’s a 10ft. wide stream of Black Ooze that runs through the cave
  • The tracks appear right in front of the cave – nowhere else can they be seen (fishy!)

The Ettercaps:

  • 2 Ettercaps have established residence in this old orc lair

After the fight:

  • There’s a hidden alcove (Perception DC 27) that contains a +1 rod and a +1 Maul
  • The corpses of their masters can be found dead near the black ooze river
  • The corpses have stabbing injuries, but no blood
  • The tracks are only at the entrance
