Township
The largest settlements in the land, Townships are self contained cities in the shape of a spiral shell. These structures have an odd, almost otherworldly look. A township has a central parkland area contained under a transparent dome, where plants are grown to restock the land should the winter ever end. The parkland is then surrounded by the inner ring, in which live the most wealthy and important members of the guilds. As the township spirals outwards, the affluence of it’s inhabitants dwindles, until the outer ring, which contains the lowest ranking guildsmen, along with the disenfranchised and outsiders wishing to seek entry.
Each Township is run by a guild council, made up of the most emminent from among the ruling guilds. They ensure that the guilds interests are fulfilled, and settle rivalries between them. This does not mean that the council is made of the heads of guilds, however, but the more political minded among them. Indeed, it is fair to say that the Guilds run the Council, and therefore the Township.
