The Brethren of Arjhaan is a cult of worshipers that had arisen in the ancient necromantic civilization of Arjhaan to venerate the arch-lich Thuul-Sogoth as master of ancient mysteries and necromancy. Secret texts, cryptic mysteries, undead acolytes, and life-extending necromancers have sustained the cult over the millennia following their patron’s supposed destruction – as well as its mission to pave the way for the Necromancer-King’s return and restore his reign of darkness.
For the Brethren, the Hand and Eye of Thuul-Sogoth are powerful relics worth obtaining at any cost. They are ever watchful for any reemergence of the Hand or Eye in Anathar, eager to track down and snatch them up from whomever possesses them.
An obscure historical text makes account of a minor event in the early years of the Great Kingdom, during the Expulsion of Evil – the deliberate purging of various evil cults and factions from the realm at that time. One group mentioned is the Brethren. Small but influential, the cult was an extremely stubborn group to purge. Its strength resided in two members, the Hand and the Eye, who were able to terrorize the citizenry. Only after much struggle was the cult put down. The Hand and the Eye were never captured or killed however, and the cult’s base was never found.
The Brethren’s symbol is the khamsa – an open left hand with an eye on the palm.
