No as far as spells known and prepared spells per day they’re still required to choose them. The system really just affords them the ability to sacrifice their lower level spells in order to cast an extra higher level spell or two, thus making them more flexible.

For instance, we had a sorceror who, had she not used her mana to cast a couple extra fireballs than what she would have been able to cast on the spells per day, helped saved the party from a couple of nasty trolls.

Hey there! I think the campaign is pretty wonderful looking, but I’d like to share one observation I have with regards to the Mana System you’ve created. I think the idea is wonderful, but I’m confused… do the characters still have spell lists, and just eschew memorization? In which case, I have no complaint, but otherwise, there’s no reason to play a Wizard, outside of flavor, as the ability to learn more spells is kind of why they exist vs. sorcerors.
