Chalchiuhtlicue walks as a beautiful woman in a jade skirt. Her beauty is so great it is said that none may look upon her and not love her.

It is said that Chalchiuhtlicue was once married to Tlaloc, and that while Tlaloc ruled the sky she ruled the seas and rivers. Yet Tlaloc was cruel to her and struck her. Chalchiuhtlicue was so filled with sorrow that she wept for 52 days, and her blood tears drowned the world.
