It is said that sometimes Tezcatlipoca, the Lord of Strife, travels the earth in the shape of a beast. In this form he uses his magics to seduce a virgin, and impregnate her. By this trickery are Nagual born.

Nagual are witches who wear the flesh of beasts. Sometimes the beasts are not dangerous ones, like frogs or turkeys. Other times the beast is deadly like the Jaguar or the Python. No matter what beast the Nagual takes the shape of, they are dangerous. Nagual know terrible curses, and drink the blood of humans for power.

By law the Nagual may not enter cities. Those that do draw the ire of Itzpapalotl. Instead, the Naugal live in the countryside, sometimes near villages or even among normal people. When a Nagual lives near people, they must either placate it with gifts or call upon Warriors to drive it away.
