Thank you for the offer. I’ve had very, very few noble-born characters so far and I knew what I wanted the moment a circles test came up and fairly was likely.
But thanks for the kind offer. Perhaps your xenophobic prince could make an appearance somewhere else. The road is long…
Did someone try Circling up a elven singer, but with an enmity clause? Well, now, I think I know one of those. He’s got a short fuse and a burning disdain for humans (he’s got the Xenophobic trait) which seems like it should press Hal’s buttons. And I wouldn’t mind making a cameo as alternate-reality Zev, capable of instruction in martial songs, in Judd’s capable hands. ;-)
Excited to see what an elven song singer looks like when he’s pissed off. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration.
This continues to be a really enjoyable read, with twists round every corner – a wolf that wishes to escape, brilliant! A Zhent witch joining Hal for the slaying of Xerez, wicked! And having the swearing to the 7 powers act as one shot Call-Ons, masterful!

On tenderhooks here waiting for the consequences of the Ob 8 Falsehood test! 2 vs 3 orcs + wolves would be a bloodbath & not in a good way…
Re: the batman/robin comment
It was a quick off the cuff comment, implying she’s Hal’s Girl Wonder and not to be interpreted too deeply. Saying that, Nasharel does complement Hal quite well with her skills and in social situations especially Hal will be able to count on a helping die from her. Plus she’s a brilliant plot hook / Dependent NPC (using Hero System terminology) – a perfect ingredient Judd can use while cooking up recipes of adventure for Hal :-)

Judd, Daniel, thanks for this. I’m really enjoying the tale, and watching the process (pbf) has been fascinating & instructive. Love He Who Cleaves the Heads of King Obould’s Enemies from their shoulders and puts them Upon Stakes for all to See, by the way.

Hi. Just checked out Nasharel’s stats on the Google sheet. Small point, her reflexes should be B4, not B7 (average of her Perception B5, Agility B5 & Speed B4). She’s an excellent Robin to Hal’s Batman :)

Thoroughly enjoyable read so far – any chance of getting Chapter 2 added to the adventure log so your readers can give Hal some encouragement in his fight vs the troll? Go Team Hal! :-)
By-the-by, I love the back-and-forth of the haggling. I’ve seen this sort of exchange with Mouse Guard and enjoy the way it turns even something as ‘mundane’ as haggling into an interesting endeavor. It helped that the item that was haggled over was hitting some of Hal’s buttons.
I just found your adventure and read through it. You’re playing a great game! I can’t wait to read more!
:-D
Ooooo 5 successes on a great strike vs a cornered Maxvel… Unless there’s an increased Ob that’ll be a Superb strike. Skewered!
Hal concedes!?! Oh, poor sweet Nashrel.
Cool. You’re back!

Thank you. Thank-you-very-much. /elvis
Well, played Judd. Well played indeed.
This way is much better anyway, I think. A Spiteful song singer? Awesome.

I needed four successes, from what I remember. I need to go back and mark all the tests on my sheet so I’ll double-check. Thanks.
Hey Daniel, I think you spent a fate on an armor test where you already had 3 successes. Just saying.
Chapter III: um…wow.
This continues to be a really enjoyable read, with twists round every corner – a wolf that wishes to escape, brilliant! A Zhent witch joining Hal for the slaying of Xerez, wicked! And having the swearing to the 7 powers act as one shot Call-Ons, masterful!
All ballads are glorious and tragic in parts. I understood that well going in.
I promise that he won’t die without dice hitting the table first.
But do know that the Ballad of Hal Whitewyrm might be a tragic tale. We have no idea where this is going.
Nah, that won’t happen. Not without Hal getting to call Head-Taker a whole lot of other names first. ;-)
Never trust an
elforc!I’m envisioning Judd posting Head-Taker running you through and posting a Game Over screen. I’ll be really sad if that happens.
Thanks, Paul.

I love that the orcs have names like that.
Thanks, John. The Head-Taker’s full name is a slight edit from the orc lifepath out of Burning Wheel.

Actually, Paul, could you unpack that ’Robin to Hal’s Batman" observation? How so?
Fixed, Paul. Thanks.

Fight! Fight! Fight!
Done, Paul! Great idea. Thanks.

Thanks for chiming in, Noclue. I’m beyond flattered that you’re reading along and enjoying it.
Hi Judd and Daniel. I’m also reading along and enjoying.

It looks like I should be able to comment on Adventure Logs as well.
Ah, thanks for that, JJ. I was wondering how it worked.
A technical note: folks not “in the party” cannot post to the campaign forum; we can only add comments.
I hope y’all don’t mind me “reading over your shoulder”.
Hey, there, JJ.
Judd, the Format works great.
Thanks, JJ. I’m intrigued by this whole set-up.
How could I not be interested in this campaign? You guys are awesome and I’ll be avidly reading your output here. Till swords cross again.
