The Second Age
The Ocish people were the first to through off the shackles of the dragon kings. Due to their high birth rate and savage determination they were able to forge the first of the great humanoid empires. A succession of strong and cunning shaman emperors grew the territory that the Orcs had under their control. Rooted in the divine magic from their patron deity the rulers were said to be divinely ordained. The ancient orcs created a society rooted in religious superstitions and ceremonies. A civilization that lasted five hundred years and subjugated the elven, human, and minotaur races to slavery.
Unlike how they live today the orcs of ancient times were a adaptable and mostly benevolent race. In the early years of the Empire of Avvond the orcish peoples were hailed as the saviors of the humanoid races for being the first to throw off the yoke of the dragon kings. But in time power corrupted the ruling shamans. It is said that the divine power from the patron deity came with a price, a taint that warped the minds of the orcish people and eventually caused the empire to fall. And the Orcish people to splinter into thousands of clans. Since the fall of the Empire of Avvond the orcish people have secluded themselves in the mountains living a nomadic clan based society.
