You restore life to a dead creature by making a pact with a powerful evil outsider, such as a demon lord, efreeti noble, or archdevil. The creature must not have been dead for more than one week per caster level, and the creature’s soul must be both fully cognizant of the terms of the pact, and be willing to return under those terms. The creature is then restored to life with one permanent negative level, but otherwise at full hit points. The raised creature is also marked with a a permanent invisible arcane mark on its forehead (the personal symbol of the evil outsider with whom the pact was made). The arcane mark does not fade with time and cannot be removed by any mortal magic. The creature also gains an evil aura as if it were an aligned undead creature of the same level.
The pact requires that the soul of the deceased be turned over to the outsider after death or seven years (whichever comes first). Upon death, the creature’s soul immediately belongs to the outsider. If still alive after seven years, the creature dies. The creature cannot be raised again by any means short of a miracle while its soul is in the possession of the evil outsider.
It might be possible to extend the terms of the pact or get out of it entirely by negotiating with or killing the evil outsider. The specifics of such an extension are up to the GM.
