Kinslett Notation
The official format for recording of dates in the Algorian Calendar system, Kinslett Notation is named after a scribe known in the annals of history only as Kinslett, who apparently was a royal scribe during the earliest years of the Third Age.
According to the rules of Kinslett Notation, date segments are to be abbreviated in the following manner:
| Date Segment | Abbreviation |
| Age | #A (e.g. 1A, 2A, 3A, ...) |
| Year | ### (e.g. 126, 304, 694, ...) |
| Month | M#(1-letter Season) (e.g. M1Q, M3B, M4G, ...) |
| Week | # (e.g. 1, 2, 3 or 4) (1-digit, referring to the week’s position in the month) |
| Day | # (e.g. 1, 2, 3 … 7) (1-digit, referring to the day’s position in the week) |
Date segments are always listed in descending order of specificity. For example:
Midweek of the 3rd week in 13th Moon of the year 690 would be abbreviated 3A690M1Q34.
| Explanation |
|---|
| 3A = 3rd Age |
| 690 = the year 690 |
| M1Q = the First Moon of Quiet (the 13th month) |
| 3 = the third week |
| 4 = the fourth day |
