News of the Shogun’s death causes unrest in the city. The PC’s investigate the geisha-house where he died. Imperial magistrates had already destroyed the place to purify it, and Isawa Hotaki established that the spirits saw no more than what the humans did: that the Shogun died from overdrinking.
Bayushi Kabe tries to meet with the Hida he defeated to offer her a gift. Isawa Hotaki visits his cousin, Aoi, who presents him with a gift of a magical scroll. Arhiro is asked by his fellow monk Sozen to run a message to Dragon Mountain.
Civil unrest grows after the Imperial Herald announces that the Crane Clan Champion, Doji Satoshi, is to be the next Shogun. The Lion Clan is pissed. During this upheaval, Miyamoto Katsuhiro defeats a Lion in an unsanctioned duel. The son of the former Shogun, Akodo Daisuke, along with his wife, visit Otomo Hijizawa’s estate. They escape an assassination attempt, and the PC’s deal with the assassins.
