The Journal of Ezikial Hands, Journeyman Gunner Part Twelve
Our meeting on the docks produced Captain Pegsworthy and Reiko’s brother, Tatsumi, much to our surprise and to her delight. As introductions were made, Pegsworthy mentioned that he knew of my father, one Israel Hands by name, and that he had last been seen in the employ of Bonefist, the Hurricane King. Whilst I was pleased to learn something of my father, I am somewhat conflicted in emotion at the thought of actually finding him. He has not been in my life for all of my 20 years, leaving but an idea of a pirate father, and one than might or might not be pleased with encountering a son. Pegsworthy implied that there was a way to gain a Free Captaincy and inquire of the Hurricane King directly by attempting the Tidewater Rock.
During our conversation with Tatsumi and Pegsworthy, Rickety asked for us to check on his lookout, which Reiko agreed to do. As we were preparing to emark upon this mission, I felt it prudent to at least inform our captain of our activities. There I found him being treated by Sandara and much recovered thereby.
(As a side note, It seems that Sandara, now named “sister”, has not changed her heart towards Chopper but has not made any progress in changing his heart)
On our return to the party, Feruzi had mustered some of our new crew to participate in our endeavor, sadly the new recruits lacked anything better than daggers, so I bade them to arm themselves from our stores.
We encountered a couple of boars and then a parrot, upon our jaunt. We killed the pigs but followed the parrot, only to find that the lookout had perished from a strong reaction to wasp venom. We returned to the village and were allowed to keep the dead man’s parrot and his morning star, which was of magical quality. Chopper seems to seek to keep the parrot, perhaps to enhance his captainly image.
Whilst I attempted to complete my hidable pistol, Chopper and the others spoke with Tatsumi at another table. I became aware of some potential trouble with our bosun at this point, but it never became anything that I felt I needed to intervene with. I suspect that she is uncomfortable with anything to do with men in any way. I may offer to provide my hands to her in places where such would be required.
Our ship was finally launched with Pegsworthy to bless it. The Crisis, it is with the Chain and Fist proudly hoisted.
