The party arrive in Magnimar when the Mage’s Tower catches fire. Ayumi immediately runs for the tower. As they approach dead guards litter the steps of the tower and they see a devil and a swordsman kill each other. Io decided to pick up the Devil’s Glaive but was hurt by the evil weapon. Ayumi charged for the stairs to get to the library, but the stairs were destroyed and there was no way up. Ayumi tried to gain access to the upper levels in vain. The group were then surrounded by imps and attacked. After a long battle with the imps, a wizard comes to the rescue and assists the party. The party plus the wizard are able to take out the imps. The wizard, Simon, reveals that they need to hurry and take Evilbane back to Kern and assist there. The party agrees and went to the teleportation circle. As they arrive in the Mage’s Tower in Kern. Ayumi is stabbed through heart and dies from a devil with a glaive. A moment later, Ayumi seems to explode in light. Her left eye turning bright red and her right eye bright blue. Ayumi utterly destroys the devil and heals herself and the rest party with a surge of energy. She then regains herself, but has no memory of what happened after she was stabbed.
As the group was resting, the town of Ravenmoor, gathered people to search for them. The adventurers went of the hill and met a few of the cultists, which they dispatched with ease. Then the mayor with a few more cultists came up. There was a hard fight, but the party was able to come out on top killing the mayor and the beast that was trying to be born from the mayor. The party sneak away and sleep, after being on the brink of death and full of exhaustion. Ayumi was disappointed to find out that Coinspinner had left her. The group woke and decided to go back into Ravenmoor to loot the mayor’s house and exact more vengeance. On the way they meet more cultists and a strange pig that had plants and vines coming out of every orifice. One of the cultists also had Coinspinner. The group dispatched the cultists, but not before Cal was afflicted with vines coming out of him, but it didn’t last too long. Ayumi was glad to get Coinspinner back. The group continued to the mayor’s house and killed the last of the cultists. Inside the house they found a wand to restore themselves if they needed it and a few other potions.
The group finally leave Ravenmoor after setting fire to the mayor’s house. This drew a crowd and almost jeopardized the escape.
On the way to Magnimar, the adventuring party came across a viper staring down a wolf. The two were locked in a standoff, waiting for their own chance to strike. With a little intervention from Ayumi and Cal, the snake and wolf befriended the two party members respectively.
Outside of Guldaria, Cal finds a man who has gone missing, while Ayumi makes the viper her familiar, Io insulting the blacksmith, and the blacksmith making armor for Cal’s wolf Moon. The next day Cal talks them into finding the man. They do find him in an abandoned building with the symbol for Iomedae on the top of it. Inside Cal falls down unconscious upon entering the main room in the small building. The man they were looking for woke up off a table and attacked them. Luckily Cal was able to wake up in time to stop the fighting and sorted everything out. The man’s name is Oro, and he has been experimented on by people who brought him here, quite similar to the way Cal was, when he received his claws. After a bit of talking they decide to team up. Oro doesn’t want his wife to see him like this. He decided traveling with this group will help him get vengeance and maybe a cure. The party outfit him with a battle axe and armor, so he will be helpful.
The group travels to Magnimar without much trouble. When they arrive, the top of the Mage’s Tower explodes and catches fire.
When the group arrived to the house in front of the hedge maze, they had to fight a scarecrow in the image of Desna (The town’s official Deity.) A girl walked up after the battle, and she spoke with Io. The girl asked if Io and friends were going to the feast and warned that it was dangerous around the house as it was condemned and scary looking. After a brief talk Io waved the girl off. The group explored the rest of the house where they ran into a slime mold, that was quickly dispatched, a few men in mosquito masks, and a group of stirges. After a short fight the stirges had almost killed Cal, but luckily the group was able to dispatch the enemies before they found a spider lady, an aranea. They fought her and a few more of her mosquito-masked friends. Going through the house they are able to find out the mosquito masks are for the cult that has it’s grip on the town. The group also finds the dead body of Elias Kyle, the tax collector. The group then decide to go into the hedge maze, after fighting off some ugly looking men who were hiding in the barn, disguised as cultists. In the maze, the disguises work well until they meet the mayor’s brother. The group was forced to fight him, but they were barely able to overcome him. When he died his face disappeared and became formless. The group is now badly wounded, so they leave the maze and barely escape relying on their disguises. They regroup on hill and try to get some rest.
The group leaves the catacombs and head on to Ravenmoor. On the way, they are attacked by an assassin, but the assassin’s tricks didn’t quite succeed and the party killed her. James then decides to leave and report back to the High Priest Saren. The remaining three continue on to Ravenmoor to find the missing tax collector. Nearing Ravenmoor, the group found a boy with his pet stirge. This unsettled the party as stirges are usually dangerous. The boy escorted the party of adventurers into Ravenmoor, and they meet the boy’s father. The group found out a little about Elias Kyle, the tax collector. He came into the village and was drinking heavily and made a fool of himself. The man says he thinks Elias Kyle took the tax money and left during the night or early morning. The boy’s father tells them to talk to the mayor at his manor. The group does so, and as they approach the manor, a man stopped them and told them to go home. Just before the argument turned to blows, the mayor came out of his manor and straightened things up. The man who told them to go home was in fact the mayor’s brother. After speaking to the mayor the group found him to be a little suspicious. The mayor had to leave to prepare for the feast that night, and the party said they’d join in the festivities later on. However, seeing a hedge maze in the distance, the group decides to explore there first.
The party secured passage to Riddleport on a sailing ship. On the way, Coinspinner went missing from Cal’s scabbard. During the voyage, the party’s ship was attacked by pirates. After a short battle where the party helped fight off the battle, the ship arrived in Riddleport with no incident. The group looks for Elias Kyle, the tax collector, with no luck. However, speaking of luck, they find a man with coinspinner gambling in a tavern. He was able to get really lucky that night. Ayumi also takes it upon herself later that night to take Coinspinner for her self. The adventurers found a temple of Calistria. This is where the group believed the spear to be held. Ayumi, sharing a god with similar values, was able to gain access to the temple’s library. Meanwhile, Cal searched around and found an access point in the back of the temple. After sharing notes, Cal and Ayumi found out the access point does lead to the catacombs. The part enter the catacombs and find the spear missing from what looks to be it’s resting place. They were soon discovered by a priest of Calistria. After fighting him, and his zombie minions, the group tortures the priest into telling them what happened to the spear. The priest told them that a man with no face stole the spear.
The party, after recovering the staff, departed from the campsite. On their way to Selkirk, the group found a sword that had a note with it.
“Who holds Coinspinner knows good odds, whichever move he make. But The Sword of Chance, to please the gods, slips from him like a snake”
Cal was elected to carry Coinspinner, despite Ayumi’s desire for the sword. The group arrived at Selkirk, luckily, without any trouble. While in Selkirk, Io decided to craft her sword into a holy symbol replica of her god. This took three days, in which Cal was missing for most of the time. After leaving Selkirk, the group came to a burned down house about a mile outside of town. After a small investigation and Cal’s confession, the group found out Cal burned the house down. He said he did so after he found a man who committed suicide in the house who was deformed with an animal arm. He did it to hide the man’s secrets. The group satisfied with his story continued on to Reca.
When they arrive in Reca, the group meets one of James’ friends and superior, Leonard. Leonard, nervous about seeing the staff in Reca, informs the group it would be best to take it Kern. After a little bit of persuading the group finally complies with Leonard’s request. Luckily on the way to Kern the group didn’t find any bandits or pirates who were in the area.
Much to Leonard’s dismay, as soon as the group arrives in Kern, Ayumi makes a beeline to the temple of Nethys. Wherein she speaks to her mother in private. After the small chat the group goes to the temple of Saranrae where the Head Priest Julian tells them that the portal’s magic is decaying, and that a spear named Evilbane (I didn’t tell you the name of the spear in game because I couldn’t find the notes. I couldn’t believe I forgot such a simple name…). The group is sent off to Magnimar with some magic items from Julian to search for the spear. After the group gets to Magnimar, they meet a woman, Jeminda Anikee. She requests that the group find her brother in law Elias Kyle and collect taxes from Ravenmoor. She feared that Elias Kyle might have left town and headed for Riddleport after he got the taxes, because of his past drunken ways. In exchange she gave the party the location of the spear. Which happens to be in Riddleport. The group is now looking for passage to Riddleport of sea.
After fighting off an Ankheg, the group found the bandits who stole the staff from them. The party confronted them and after a long hard fight, the party managed to defeat their adversaries. Now that the party has recovered the staff, they are at a crossroads of their adventure.
The party met at the Shaky Tree Tavern in the farming village of Shady Vale. Cal and Io talked with a merchant and worked out a deal to escort him to the City of Candry for a fee of 5 platinum pieces each. Ayumi arrived accompanied by her bodyguard George. The pair was also approached by the merchant and asked to partake on the same mission but for only 2 platinum a piece. The party left Shady Vale and on the road it was uneventful for the first 3 days. The party was ambushed on the fourth day and put to sleep except for Ayumi. Ayumi gave chase to the bandits but retreated. After everyone woke the bandits took the merchant’s cart. The party, using Cal’s skills, tracked down the bandits which turned out to be feline humanoids. The group was able to capture one of their sentries and they found out the cat people were refugees who were fleeing to their homeland.
Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!
While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!
The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!
Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.
One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
