In Motterdarm, arcane magic is outlawed, ever since the wizards of the Arcane Age caused the Righteous Wars.

It is extremely rare for anyone to have arcane power, and few people know how it manifests, what the effects look like, or what it can do. So, whenever something unexplainable happens, arcane magic is blamed. This always gives rise to hatred and fear, and the pious calling to the priests, clerics, and paladins to destroy the source of the evil, ungodly magic.

Bards do not use arcane magic, their magic is granted by the Gods.
