Today is my Rallahom, the day I pledge myself to Rillifane Rallathil. I am so excited to begin my training with the Bordyr Guards. I can’t believe I’m finally fourteen!
It has been over nine months already and Gardain still won’t let me go on patrol. Bandar-Ren says I should be patient and continue to work with the human and the Guard, but I know I’m ready. I can track almost anything in these woods and do it silently. When will I get my chance?
Finally! Gardain took me out on patrol yesterday. It was a nice treat on my fifteenth birth day. I have been training over a year for that day. We didn’t see anything, just a few sets of tracks. I think he did that on purpose.
We tracked down some goblins today. It all went so fast, the fight was a blur and there was so much blood. My heart didn’t slow down until we returned to Beltane.
More goblins today. I wonder if this will ever be normal. I saw ogre tracks leaving a burned out farmhouse. It was a complete slaughter.
Another farmhouse burned. The family had been posed like in a ritual.
More goblins. I saw the ogre, but he disappeared in the trees before we could engage him. The rain made it difficult to track.
Tomorrow, Gardain is taking me and Florist out on patrol. He finally trusts me as a full member of the Guard.
one month later
ogre killed Gardain. nearly got me. I took one of his eyes.
It’s been months since I last went on patrol with the Guard. My side still aches when I’m out on a hunt.
Back on patrol.
Going on a hunt tonight. Need more venison before the winter comes.
two weeks later
Beltane in ashes. Land’s end gone.
Seeing more ritualistic killings by ogres in the border villages between Falconaire and Rivendeep. They look eerily familiar.
Met with the druids to see if they had any information on these rituals. One of them, Jharron, and I will journey to Tennyson’s Tower to ask them the same question.
Waiting to meet with the wizards, we met a low character – thief or something. He is looking into the same thing and provided us a little more information. All three of us are going to talk to the mages tomorrow.
Mages agree that there is a problem: blood magic. They asked us to gather more information by following the trail of rituals in an attempt to find the source. They sent along a young elven wizard and a Korsic barbarian to help us.
We found the base camp of the ogre and goblins. Came across an elven cleric who decided to join us in finding this ogre and his goblin minions.
The one-eyed ogre is dead. He was the shaman behind the ritual killings. A weight has been lifted off my chest. Found him and the goblins in a sunken temple. Came across a ogre bane scimitar – I’ll put it to good use.
Set up trading route for Lord duBlade from Castrel to Capone in Toreador. Our party grew again in Capone as we welcomed a dwarven warrior also interested in trading routes. Laid basic plans for an outpost between southeastern Falconaire and Aelvinwode. Looking forward to traveling to the elven nation in the future.
While in Capone, we helped out the local militia by dispatching some of the guilds inhibiting honest trade. One was led by a giant were-rat and some witches, obviously involved in blood magic.
We are going to arrest the last guild’s leader in the morning. Hopefully, it will go smoothly. They all seem to have good eyes and ears against the militia’s actions.
The militia’s second in command, Johan, was working with the guilds. He has escaped and no one knows his whereabouts. I barely survived an encounter with a wood golem. Thankfully, Aeron and Blend were there to ensure my continued existence. I’m not sure how much longer I act in such a way as to require their input for my survival…. I do like this greatsword. It is rather large, but does considerably more damage then my two scimitars. I think I’ll focus more on my bow and this weapon.
