Ben- Version 5.5 came out in 1998. There have been a few others since then, and currently, the game is on its 6th edition. All of the editions are compatible going back to the beginning, so if you get a PDF of a newer version, it’s not a problem.
What year did the book you are using come out in? I found a Cthulu PDF in my stash that came out in 2002, but there is no version on it si I don’t know if it is the same one.
Well, the campaign itself will start in 1928, but, it is useful to have a good view of the whole decade. After all, would 1988 and 1989 make a lot of sense were it lacking the context of the “80s?”
